Best BDay Present=VACATION!
It has been such a busy day. Non-stop tornado reports across the Deep South including one that came in earlier this morning over Tupelo, Mississippi. I just sat down to eat lunch for a second, and was called to the studio again to report on a cluster of tornado reports over Alabama and Tennessee. I truly hope no one was hurt today and that the damage is minimal. Unfortunately we have a few more potentially dangerous storms moving into the Central Plains this weekend. I’m concerned about the possibility for a severe weather outbreak on the weekend — so keep an eye on the sky and an ear to your local news/weather reports. May is typically the busiest time for tornadoes, but we’re way way above average in terms of actual tornado reports over the last few months.
Since I am celebrating a BDay tomorrow, I am going to take the day off work, and next week my husband and I are heading to North Carolina for a full 7 days of rest and relaxation at my good friend Jon Scott’s house on Bald Head Island. You should see this place! Jon is one of the most generous people I’ve ever met, and the fella you see on tv is the guy you experience in person once the lights and cameras are off. He offered us his place last year when we got married, but since we decided on a Paris Honeymoon, I told him I would take him up on his offer for our first year anniversary…close enough!
I promise to take lots of pictures, and hopefully I will have an Internet connection to check in with you. I’ll probably log in to say hi tomorrow too! (Inbetween pampering and cake eating!)

We’re going to miss you while you’re gone!! I hope you have a great vacation and that you’ll get plenty of rest. You certainly deserve it. You have a wonderful and safe trip..NC isn’t that far away from Tn..I stopped in Cherokee NC..on my way to Myrtle Beach SC a few years ago..and on the way back drove up the coast side..it is beautiful country..and I loved Asheville too..
Get lots of R&R…eat a piece of cake for me..

That sink hole is CRAZY Kathy! I saw it on Fox Report last night. The reporter said at the end “everyone has a sinking feeling!!” I’m not sure if she meant it to be funny???

Have a happy birthday tomorrow. I have vacationed on Bald Head Island, and it is beautiful. Very peaceful and relaxed. Go to the lighthouse and walk up the inside…..it is very unique. It is worth the jaunt on your bikes. No cars on the island…….YEAH!!!!!!!!

Sink holes are pretty common in some areas of the state of Texas but when a new one forms it is always exciting. The last one I watched form was back in the 70’s was near Wink, Tx and becams known as the Wink Sink. The hole is still there but stable now. There does however remain some activity near by the old site. Over the years the hole fills in and the area eventually just becomes a low area.in the landscape. The hole down near Houston is a big one for sure. I am sure that in the end the sink hole will be deemed a result of global warming by Al Gore.
