More Pics and a runny nose!!
Hello again! Thought I would post a few more pictures this evening. We never made it kayaking…it was too cold and windy, and I have come down with a nasty cold! What a drag. I suppose if I had to pick a place to be “under the weather” it would be here in Bald Head. We did some walking on the beach last night, and I was mesmerized by all the colorful shells that wash up on shore. I took a couple of these pictures – the one of my husband walking back to the parking lot carrying his sandals…he reminded me of a little boy walking ahead of me. And I also took the one of the sunset. My husband said it was “the best of the bunch!” Yahoo!
Sunny- I did see “Old Baldy” (the famous lighthouse here) today – and managed to climb up all the steps to the tippy-top! It was pretty cool – you can see all of the island from the view up there. I also did a little shopping at the conservancy where all the proceeds go to helping keep the wildlife healthy and alive here on the Island. I’m a big fan of turtles, so I bought a few souvenirs that reflect my soft spot for the cute little guys- including a t-short that says “I’m on turtle time!”
I might have to wear that every weekend in New York.
Did I mention that there are no cars or trucks here on the Island? Everyone gets around in golf carts which is so brilliant! I told my husband yesterday I was going to write a letter to Mayor Bloomberg asking him if we can do the same in Manhattan! It would solve so many problems including the high cost of gas… You plug your your little electric cart in at night, and you’re ready to rock the next day. There would be no crazy cab drivers and I think it would make the streets so much safer. It was kind of a joke at first, but the more I think about it the better it sounds! Maybe everyone should be cruising in carts!
The weather here has been pretty chilly at night (in the 50s) and then low 70s during the day, so the sweatshirts are getting alot more use than I had originally planned. And now with this crappy cold, I’m layering up and drinking a lot of tea…(instead of that chardonnay which I miss already)
Anyhow, still reading all of your posts with lots of interesting medical advice! We’ve got a lot of strong, resilient people on this blog. (I think we all share a lot in common!
Luis, I also enjoyed reading your post about how you came to your decision on who to vote for this coming election. This has got to be the longest election year ever!!! (At least it seems that way…)
Keep the dialogue going!
Talk to you soon!

JD……
Glad you got to the lighthouse.
Hope the weather gets better and you feel better soon. As my Jewish grandmother would say…..you need some good Chicken Soup. Tell your hubby to go down to the little market
by the pier and get you some.
Feel better.

Janice,
I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. That’s a bummer! I hope it doesn’t last too long. Getting sick while you’re away is the pits. I battled sinus headaches when I was in Minnesota back in September and I spent a lot of my time in my hotel room resting. I could have done the same thing closer by for a lot less money! I do hope you feel better soon.
I love your pictures! The sunset picture is gorgeous. I hope you’ll share more as the week progresses. When you come back from vacation I’ll have a really cool picture to share. I figured if Sunny can model his “don’t be a pinhead” t-shirt, I’d model my “don’t be a ninnyhammer” shirt. (I love the sound of that word!) Of course, with my crazy mind, I came up with a unique “self portrait” with a little help from my photo editing software. You never know what I’ll come up with next!
I love collecting seashells. I’m rather jealous of the ones you’ve been finding! It’s relaxing to walk along the beach looking for shells. Take care of yourself and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Enjoy the South and the Southern hospitality..
Deb
Thanks Goddess
Comew back soon
Hey Janice,
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re under the weather
I don’t recall it happening to me before, but my sister has been sick before while we were all on vacation together, and it’s no fun, to say the least. I hope you get back to feeling 100% very soon!
Although I haven’t posted in your blog in awhile, I still read it everyday
I love all of the pictures you’ve taken so far! They make me wish that I was there, though it’s hard to beat being in the mountains here in Virginia/West Virginia
The weather was just beautiful here today, with hardly any clouds, and the temperature very comfortable, in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. I’m not a big fan of eating outdoors, but I had lunch with my folks at this neat little place that makes great hot dogs and burgers, and today was the perfect day for doing pretty much anything outside. But, as they say, great things don’t last forever, and rain is in the forecast starting tomorrow. I wish Florida and the most of the West could get some rain. I saw all the wildfire problems that they’re having in those areas, and it’s just terrible. Incredible how parts of the country have too much rain, and other places don’t have nearly enough.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation! Just have your great husband fix you up some chicken soup. That and drinking plenty of water always does the trick for me
Take care!
Justin
