TGIF Bigtime!

Good morning everyone

Happy Friday!  This has been a loooooooooong workweek!  I’m glad the weekend is here.

First things first, some of you have been sending me pix to U-report that I am not receiving.  I’m going to try and figure out what’s happening and get some help to try and find them.    A couple of things I wanted to pass along is when you send pics, they need to go to: Fox News Blogs. If you  click the little icon the upper right corner of this blog (It says “what’s the weather outside your window?”) you will automatically get that category chosen.  If you have submitted to just “ureport” you will be placed into a huge pool of photos that I can’t get to.  One more thing, DON’T send to ureport@foxnews.com because I don’t have access to that.

We have another terrible crane collapse in New York City that boggles my mind.  I was nervous that my husband was heading to the scene since his shift ended this morning, but he has been relieved and is heading home.    Its days like these that I get worried about his and his co-worker safety.  I am so angry that this has happened again especially after the last crane collapse just a few months ago.  Unacceptable.   If this turns out to be a case of trying to get building up as quickly as possible without taking proper safety measures, then someone needs to be punished.  So far it seems to be the same crane company that was involved in the last crane collapse from what I gather.   It’s hard to concentrate seeing things like this in the city I live in.

Ok…back to weather-land (I promise we’ll get to more fun stuff in a second)  We had 200 reports of severe weather yesterday - over 50 reports of tornadoes.  The National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center did an outstanding job predicting where they believed the worst weather would take place, and I believe it saved lives.

The hardest hit areas were in northern Kansas, Nebraska, and western Iowa.  There were reports of large tornadoes and damage in Nebraska and Kansas.  There is a tornado watch still in effect for parts of Southeast Iowa, Northeast Missouri and North central Illinois including Chicago.  More severe weather is in store for the Midwest and the Ohio Valley.   Large hail, strong winds, flooding rain and tornadoes from Northern Oklahoma up into the great lakes.  A “moderate risk” has been placed across Illinois and parts of Eastern MO, and much  Indiana.

On Saturday, the strong storms will move into the Tennessee Valley, the Carolinas - up into the Midatlantic and the Northeast. Ok..onto fun stuff.  I’ll post an Open Blog for you guys to play on in a minute.

That may be what happened to mine.

Resubmitted a few seconds ago.

Sorry about those killed by yet another crane accident. I think there will be serious questions about the inspection process, especially since this is the second such incident this year, I think.

Have a great weekend Goddess ;)

Hey Janice,

I’m glad your husband isn’t at that crane collapse. I’ve been praying for him and all the firefighters this morning. It is totally unacceptable to have so many crane collapses happening. I think they are in such a hurry to make a buck that they are getting slack in their safety precautions. I hope today’s incident will bring about some much needed changes.

I hope all this crazy weather settles down a little soon. I think we’re supposed to get some rain tomorrow but I don’t think it’s supposed to be anything severe. One of these days I’ll get to work out in my garden. Actually, the way I’ve been feeling this week, I don’t think I’d have the energy to do anything outside this weekend. It might be a good weekend to just crash out on the sofa and find some good sports to watch on TV. I wish I could do that right now but I’m going to try to make it through the whole day at work since I left early yesterday. I knew I was in bad shape yesterday morning when I walked up the hill from the parking lot to the hospital. My chest is so congested and I had a box that I carried up the hill and by the time I got to the door I thought I was going to die. That was just a little too much exertion for my state of health. Of course, if I needed medical attention, working in a hospital is a good place to get it!

I hope you have a great weekend and that you can relax a little. It sounds like you had a difficult week. I hope you can relax and do something fun to unwind a little. Take it easy.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I might find something creative to do if I don’t sleep through the whole thing!

Where did this crane go down? I was up visiting a niece at Manhattan Marymount when the last one went.

Great inspection system they have there :-(

I was right in the middle of those Nebraska storms last night, the worst damage was 50 miles to the west and 20 miles to the east of me. There was some street flooding in my town and the street one block north of me was so full of water it went partway up the driveways and you would have needed a gondolier to get around.

Morning JD,

Yes I woke up hearing the report about another crane had toppled over, and I thought for a moment I had been dreaming it, or some repeat newscast was happening. When I saw NYFD I thought hmmm is JD’s husband down there, glad to hear he is safe and sound, sad to hear of the people who lost their lives again. I think Mayor Bloomburg needs to crack down, call in the justice department and get this cleaned up before more of this happens.
