U-report changes, and Margie’s Newsletter!
Hello everyone.
There are some changes going on with U-report as a few of you have noticed. The pix go into a bigger file for “weather”…which means there will be many more photos we can post from. I’ve been promised a little extra help posting your pix because it’s a bit of an undertaking, so we’ll have to be a little patient until everything gets ironed out (actually, I’m the one that gets impatient when I can’t get everyones pictures up ASAP!!)
The flooding is now hitting more and more people downstream. A few more levees have failed or have been breached along the Mississippi River overnight, and it’s just so hard to see the effects of this day after day to more and more communities. Thankfully, we have a dry day today along the flood zones. Tomorrow we’ll have to watch the skies for more of a rain potential over the Midwest. It is certainly amazing to see everyone working hard together to try and sandbag their neighborhoods. People certainly know when to help one another which is heartwarming to see during these hard times.
I also want to mention that our friend Margie Gacki (who is a Medical Librarian for the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland, Maryland) has been working hard on a project for her newsletter that has now been posted. Margie was nice enough to do a wonderful article on me a few weeks ago, so I wanted to give you the link to check it out:

( click on to the CHIL-Out Chatter Newsletter once you get there)
and for a look at other library info from Margie’s newsletter you can go here:

Thank so much again Margie! I am flattered you asked me to be a part of your project!
JD

Hey Janice,
I’m flattered that you agreed to be a part of my project! I got more cooperation from you than I did from my librarian colleagues so I thank you for that! You are truly special and I appreciate you very much. Thank you for posting this!
Margie
Janice
Why no diet soda? I’ve had two doctors, one in NJ and one in Va who both said, “only drink clear diet soda, no red or brown soda”
So I live on either diet Mist or diet Sprite, which -ever is on sale.
Hey Don,
There are many articles out there about the “sweeteners” in diet soda that can be harmful to your health. Some of them even go as far as saying they might be linked to diseases like MS.
very nice article, thanks JD and Margie
Margie…Very Nice
…Dont have time to read all on the page at the moment but will later…Nice interview with Janice though…
Janice…Thanks for sharing that…..I learned some things about MS that I didnt know….
(and girl…my sympathies with the spinal tap…been there done that…Ive only be thru one preceedure (milogram..hopefully such things are no longer done) that I have found worse than the spinal taps..makes me cringe in fear…)
Nice weather here….low 70s and sun….
Later all…
Besides squash we have greenhouse cukes and pickles and lettuce now….
Hey Dawn!
Love cucumbers!! And yes, the Spinal Tap sucks.
Hey gang,
Make sure you check out the health topic, too, when you click on the link. There’s a lot of great information on heart health and physical fitness that you’ll find useful. Enjoy!
Margie
Good informative article, major props to Janice and Margie! And thanks for the health info. It contained a lot of facts i really didnt know of before.
Great informative article there Margie! Was Janice a “tuff subject” to interview?
Hey Don in Alexandria,
Janice was easy to interview! She cooperated more than my colleagues did with their articles! Actually, some of the questions were ones she answered for Scott on his blog before he raced in the MS 150. She let me use those and then she answered all the ones I gave her and she got them back to me the day after I e-mailed them to her. She keeps thanking me for asking her but I’m the one who should be thankful that she took the time out of her busy schedule to answer my questions. She’s really great!
Margie
Aww thanks Margie!
Dear Janice, I just loved the article;I feel like you are one of my family; thanks for your positive attitude;I loved the way you ended it.Praying for you.
Betty
Hey Betty. Thank you for your kindness! I’m doing just fine these day.
This is an excellent interview!
Margie I think you did an amazing job: each question is clear and pertinent.
And I learn so much by your answers Janice. Love your advice and perspective.
I started to read it around 1 AM and couldn’t stop til the end!
Congrats to both of you. Good cooperation makes wonders
Guillaume
Hey Guillaume!
You’re the best!
Janice
Amazing, I wasn’t aware of the sweetner problem. I would not be surprised if someday were told standing on a tile floor causes cancer or something like that.
What a great indepth interview and insight - Thank you to you both!!
I love the newsletter, Margie. Great job!! How often will you update it?
BTW, I heard that diet sodas have something in it (I don’t know if “aspartame” is right?) … Something about it will make you more hungry/have more of a craving for sugar so you eat/drink more of what you shouldn’t.
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for your comments. I’m glad you enjoyed the newsletter. I will be coming up with an online only newsletter sometime in the coming months. This was the last CHIL-Out Chatter that I will do because I had some trouble with cooperation from my colleagues. I plan on coming up with my own consumer health newsletter but I will have to run that by the patient education committee. I will try to do them at least quarterly and maybe every other month. I’ll have to check into the diet soda thing. I think the different brands use different sweeteners. That might be a good topic for an article in a future newsletter! Thanks again for writing!
