I’ve seen the second picture before. It’s making the rounds on the internet. Ya goota admit the image “grabs ya”! ;-)

Don,

You’re not the only one who recognized it. It’a a NOAA picture from 1991 taken near Lake Okeechobee. At least two photos were combined to make this one.

I knew that pic looked familiar. I thought it was from that show Twister Sisters.

Sorry to burst you bubbles, Brad, Margie, and Don. This picture is one of several I took of these weird illusions. I sent two more to JD and stated that she can still pull my picture if she likes. I can prove it till for as long as I want, but what’s the point. Someone else will still believe it is “borrowed”, “stolen”, or “hoaxed”. I already sent this to local skywarn officials and they forwarded it to the NWS for their use before it was even posted here.

What’s the point in agruing. I just thought I share a picture that I personally took with my camera phone, and was “awed” myself at what I was watching.

Like I said, I give her my permission to remove the picture that I personally took. People have the right to their opinion

Thanks Janice, for posting my picture; even if you decide to remove it due to people’s opinions.

Hey Brian! Your picture is still in-tact, and I believe you! It was the second photo that was posted here that we took down. I’m very sorry if you felt hurt or discouraged in any way. I am a little dis-heartened as well with some of the comments about pictures that may or may not be real or not. Fox has the right to post pictures they believe to be real — and so in some cases maybe we won’t be able to tell if a picture is “real” or not…I love that people like yourself are sending pictures in, and you should be proud of your work. I hope you will still send pictures Brian. Please know that I appreciate your time and effort.

Brian,

I echo Janice’s comments. Fox removed the picture we were talking about. Your picture is wonderful (if that’s appropriate to say about tornadoes). I would never criticize someone’s photo unless I knew it was a fake. Yours definitely is not! The other picture that was posted was a nighttime picture of a lightning bolt illuminating a tornado that was behind an oil rig. I recognized that tornado picture and did a search and found out it was taken in Florida back in 1991–without the oil rig! I hope you’ll send in more of your photos because this one is awesome. It gives me the chills! I’m sorry if there was a misunderstanding. Please come back and visit us–we’re really a great bunch! I’ll just keep my mouth shut from now on so I don’t get in trouble again. I am sorry.

Darn, started to post an apology and it disappeared on a keystroke. Hope this is not a double post.

I tend to be jumpy sometimes and sorry for sounding mad. I am not good at correctly expressing my meanings. Sorry Margie, but I assumed the oil rig was the one that was in front of my cloud (yes there is a rig in front of the cloud). I tend the read things fast and not realize my error in understanding what the comment was actually saying. My bad, and I should be the one keeping my mouth shut and never realized there was another “other” pic.

I am now being told that this was not a tornado. Original press releases said it was an illusion caused by heavy rain and hail. Now the local weather station says it was a scud cloud instead. I had chills when I realized I took about 15 pictures with my phone, and not once called the local officials.

Sorry Bill! I mentioned the second picture when I posted. Now myself, Brad, and Margie are jerks because we discussed the “now missing” picture being something we’ve seen before. Now Janice is “disheartened” because we did that. :-(

We didn’t say anybody stole it or even post a bad word about it. I even mentioned what a striking image it was. But we’re jerks for saying it is something we’ve seen before. Go figure!

Comment by Janice Dean

I never said anyone was a “jerk” There have just been some comments questioning which pictures are real and which aren’t…Brian thought people were questioning his photo. That’s all. I just want to make sure everyone is being treated fairly, and if anyone has issues, they have a place to voice their concerns.

Thanks Janice! I was kind of off on the “disheartened” aspect. I think we all just had crossed wires there.

Shouldn’t you be out taking tourists to sites about now? :-)
