Janice Dean the Weather Machine

Big Bertha!

We have our second tropical storm of the 2008 Atlantic Season in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean, about 190 south-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.   Bertha will continue a northwesterly track through the open Atlantic.   Maximum sustained winds are near 40mph and intensification is possibke to near hurricane strength in the next 72-120 hours.

Sorry Brad. No Janice until at least 2014. I’m not sure that is the kind of honor you really want. I get mine in 2011. I’m aiming it for the Kennedy compound in Massachusetts! ;-) (haha)

I hope everyone has a happy fourth of July and give a little moment to think of those who are away from home serving the country!

And having gone thru a couple of open ocean Hurricanes and Typhoons over the years, I hope everyone gets out of the way of this one. They can really smash up ships (even aircraft carrioers) and the waves can bend steeel rails.

Don-

I just searched google and there was a hurricane in the Atlantic named Janice, back in 1958. It had a wind speed of 80 mph, and was a Category 1.

Hope it didn’t hurt anyone!!
