  • Look out! Here comes that Pregnant Lady!

    Good morning everyone!

Before we get to the weather, I must opine for a moment.

Being a pregnant lady, I’ve definitely taken some “notes” on people’s behavior around me.  I’ve noticed a lot more “stares” directly at my bigger belly (to the point of slight rudeness by strangers!)  And although I don’t mind a little belly love from my friends and co-workers (giving my little guy a pat or rub), I appreciate the advance notice that they’re hand is moving directly towards my midsection!   Sound reasonable, right?  No biggie.

HOWEVER,  the one thing that bothers me the most about being a pregnant lady and the world around me,  is the subway and bus etiquette.   Now, I am clearly at the “pregnant” stage and not just the “gained a little weight, Janice?” stage, so when the bus or subway is crowded, and I’m holding onto the rails without a seat — the ONLY people that take notice, and get up to offer their seat…ARE WOMEN!!!!  This hasn’t just happened once or twice, but a handful of times.  What is up with these lazy, couldn’t be bothered MEN out there?  (My husband being the exception – he has ALWAYS offered his seat to pregnant ladies, the elderly, kids — even just ladies in general).  I am really really disheartened by this finding.  I think I might have to get someone to videotape this one day, and embarrass some of these men without manners!  (This of course does not apply to the men on this blog whom I know are the most kind, generous and good hearted guys out there!! :) ) One of the women I work with, who I’ve discussed this with, said that when she was pregnant, and encountered these men who would look at her belly, but still not get up – would yell:  ”YOU LOOK UP, YOU GET UP BUDDY!!!”  I think I might have to resort to that kind of behavior!  Don’t mess with a pregnant lady that’s been standing on her feet all day long!!

    CAUTION:  BABY ON BOARD!

Ok – that was a long rant, wasn’t it???  Felt good though!  I’m a pregnant lady that is on a mission to teach some manners to lazy male subway riders! :)

Alright.  Moving on.  The storm in the Northeast that suspended Game 5 of the World Series, and the postponement of the end of the game last night will resume tonight in Philly.  I think I can officially make a forecast call, and say this game will happen.  Skies will be partly cloudy with temperatures in the upper 30s…

We’ll still see some rain, wind and snow in the interior Northeast as the system moves into Canada, and temperatures should start to rebound tomorrow and Friday to more seasonable highs.

Lake effect snow will still be cranking especially across Lake Erie and Ontario as the storm exits…and the rest of the country should remain pretty quiet.  The  south should also start to see a warming trend over the next few days after some pretty wacky cold temperatures in the overnight hours!   Meantime, the west is still very warm, with red flag warnings up for another day across Southern California due to low humidity and breezy, off shore winds.

That’s about it for now!  Talk to you later…I’m off to eat a large breakfast.  Ranting has made me very very hungry! :)
