    Happy 13th Fox News Channel!

    Good morning everyone.

    Another sleepless in Manhattan evening.  Matthew has the croup.  We’re going to the doc’s again this afternoon.  I was in tears with him last night as he kept waking up with that horrible barking seal noise.  From what I read, there’s not much we can do except keep his little head elevated at night and bring him into the bathroom to run a hot shower to steam up the room (I remember this remedy from one of my favorite movies of all time “Terms of Endearment”…where Debra Winger brings her baby into bathroom to steam it up while her husband played by Jeff Daniels admits to cheating on her! Eeek!)  We also put a cool air humidifier in the bedroom to help.    This could take a few days to get over, so I’m starting to get used to the sleep deprivation.  I just want him to get better so badly.  It’s got to be one of the hardest things as a parent – seeing your little one suffer.  At any rate, hopefully it’s nothing too serious, and he can get over this along with plenty of TLC from his mom and dad.

    Last night I was able to download some of the little videos we’ve been taking with Matthew while he’s been out in Central Park – here’s a little snippit (I’m not sure why it’s sideways, but at least it uploaded onto the blog!!)

    Before we get to weather news,  I also wanted to wish Fox News Channel a very happy birthday!  We launched in 1996 with just 17 million subscribers.  Now we’re the number one cable news network and we keep on growing!   I feel so privileged to work here.  It’s the best job I’ve ever had, and the people I work with are some of the nicest I’ve ever met.  This is like a second home to me, and I don’t think I would’ve come back after having Matthew if I didn’t love this place so much.   

    Ok – back to weather – a lot of you have mentioned to cooler temperatures.  We should get used the extra blankets and maybe get out those heavier jackets and coats this weekend as a lineup of storm originating in the west will continue to bring unsettled weather (including snow!)  across the U.S.  behind these systems, temperatures will drop considerably especially as we head into the weekend.  Heavy rain will fall from North Texas through the Ozarks and into the midwest over the next 48 hours.  6-12 inches of snow will pile up across the Northern Rockies.  And the pattern continues later this week and into the weekend.

    We’ve also got Tropical Storm Henri out there in the Atlantic that just kinda popped out of nowhere yesterday east of the Antilles.  Henri is not going to threaten any land and will weaken to just a low pressure system by tomorrow.

    That’s all for now folks.  Time for lunch!

Good luck with the sleep deprivation, I just saw you on FoxNews & you look well rested, a good fake it! The croup is terrible for a baby. The humidifier is about the best thing for the croup. Take care, sleep whenever you can! The baby will bew fine! You WILL survive!

Love the vid, so cute. Those red rosey cheeks are adorable! I agree, humidifer or vaporizor. I use the vaporizor yr round to stop static in my hair

JD Thank you soooooooo much for that adorable, darling, heart warming, precious video with Matt and Sean, we loved hearing Sean's voice as much as watching that gorgeous guy crawling on top of him, we watched it 4 times in a row, that sweet, sweet little face, just really melts our hearts. Now we pray he will get well quickly and Mommy can get some much needed sleep and rest, but again today you looked fantastic as always. Our hearts are with your pain at seeing your little guy suffer so much, hope Dr. brings good news. Clare and A.J.

Hey, Janice: Hey, Everyone: Well, Janice, try not to be too concerned about Matthew. Hopefully, the doctor will give you some meds to help him out. Usually, when I am ill with a cold, I tend to take a shot of rum (medicinal purposes, of course!), but, Matthew is way too young for such advanced treatment LOL. Hel will be fine. Fear not. Thanks for the link concerning our atmosphere. I dont know why you put up with my Sal-questions, but I am grateful. MR. DEAN...JANICE IS A REAL BABE, AND NOT JUST BECAUSE SHE LOOKS SO GOOD, SO CONSIDER YOURSELF VERY LUCKY, SIR! I like the video here. Janice, perhaps the reason why it is sideways is because it was recorded sideways? Yeah, perhaps I should leave that rum ration alone for now! Yes, today is a cool windy day. In fact, a large branch of a tree fell down blocking the street where I live! It might be a rough winter! I, too, want to wish FOX NEWS a Happy Birthday! 13 years of great news stories. It is nice to see a news network that admits that America can walk and chew gum at the same time. Janice, you once asked me how my love life is going since many women here refuse to date a guy who watches FOX. Well, I met someone. She is a liberal, not really thrilled that I watch FOX, but she does not hold it against me. So far, so excellent! Sal

Hi JD, Sorry to hear that Matthew still feels bad. That barky cough is so tough to listen to. I do hope he'll get better soon. It's a beautiful day in MS after a dreary, gray morning. Blue skies and sunshine after an afternoon and night of thunder storms. Should be around 80 degrees today. Tomorrow, the forecast is for 87 degrees. I so was hoping Summer was over. croup is terrible- only because we, as mommy's, can't do much! It sounds a lot worse than it is, but it doesn't change a thing. Snuggles are the best! (and maybe a doc who will prescribe something for the breathing!)

Hey Don, I remember the blog doing that at least once before with posts disapppearing so it's hard to tell what's going on. This blog has had all kinds of interesting things going on lately so it's hard to tell what's wrong. I really wish the techie people would get the u-report link working so we can send in pictures. That's been gone for weeks so at least the blog doesn't disappear for that long! Margie

very windy in N.J. trees falling down one hit the back of the car. (car is ok) sorry about the little guy this to is part of life.run the shower real hot sit in there with him read a book sing a song anything to make him happy this will help. hope you get some sleep soon and that the little man gets well soon.

Hey Janice, That little man of yours is so cute! I love the video! I'm sorry that he's still feeling bad. I will keep praying for that little guy. I hope he feels better soon! We have a beautiful sunny day today but that wind is howling. It was 65 degrees when I got up but it's in the 50's now so it will feel pretty chilly when I head home. Hey to all the other bloggers out there! I hope everyone is having a great day. My growling stomach is telling me it's lunchtime so I will have to see what's good in the cafeteria. Getting humidity into the room does help. To this day in the winter time I use a humidifier in my bedroom. No one answered the trivia question. The tug of war game played with the dog on Soap with Billy Crystal was called SOCK.
