A digital camera is well worth the investment George. Unlike a film camera you don't have to keep track of how many pictures you have left. I took 150 pictures on that day because any that I thought might be ok, or not, could always be deleted. In turn some that you didn't think much of when taking it turn out to be pretty darn good.

Seeing all these terrific photos makes me want to buy a digital camera more than ever! Hope Santa Claus is listening! I am so thankful that other bloggers are sharing their photos with us here. George Spink Los Angeles

I live in Rochester, NY & I thought the pics looked very familiar.

Yes the Taconic State Park is at Copake Falls and Bish Bash Falls are a highlight there. The Beebe Hill fire tower stood upon Washburn Mtn in Copake Falls from 1932 - 1964. And yes there are Rattlesnakes down in that area 15 miles south of Beebe Hill. Thankfully the habitat around Beebe Hill is not liked by the rattlers, but a stray Copperhead passes through every now and then.

Yes Bill, at Taconic Park near Copake (sp) falls and a few different places in the Adirondacks, all private campgrounds.

Where did you go camping at Don, Taconic State Park?
Bill S in Scotia, NY
Rochester huh, the beginning of the snow-belt a place where you might not have snow, but travel 5 miles down the road and a foot and a half could be lying on the ground. Boy the wind certainly rips through there in the winter. The snakes are along the Hudson River south of Albany mainly on the very western edge of the Catskills and beginning in very southern Columbia County going down to nearly New York City. Timber Rattlers and Eastern Copperheads. There is a small cluster of rattlers up around Lake George, along the NYS Thru-Way near Canajoharie and a smattering throughout the Southern Tier. They like to get out on the rocks and sun themselves although what Mother Nature has in store for us through tomorrow I kinda figure they're all denned up.

Bill NY is a beautiful state. I went to college in Rochester and am familiar with western NY which is beautiful. Eastern NY, close to Massachusetts where you are is also gorgeous. I camped there in the 70's. Just didn't like all the snakes I ran into.

Thanks Guys. Hey Don...just head west into the mountains. I suspect the Blue Ridge should look beautiful right now.

When I see pictures like these I wonder what the hell I'm doing in Richmond.

Beautiful as usual Bill! :)

Hey Bill, I'm glad Janice posted your pictures. I never got around to thanking you for e-mailing them to me a while back. They are certainly beautiful. I was planning on going out this weekend to take pictures around here but with snow in our forecast, I think I'll stay in my nice warm house! You live in a beautiful area and I love looking at your pictures. Thanks for sharing them! Margie
