My folks are in town visiting from Arizona. So I've rented a car and we're headed to the Catskills and the Finger Lakes region for some Fall Hiking, Driving and Exploring. With the two nor'easters a week ago, snow, wind, rain and general crazy October weather, I think we're probably a couple weeks late. It's hard to plan a fall trip when vacation days and plane tickets are involved.
So what are your favorite Fall hikes? Drives? Also, send me pics to the link on the side and I'll get them posted on here for everyone to see.
Hey Rick,
Nice blog complementing JD's! I blog over there a lot and enjoy speaking with David from Alaska. I like your focus on the science of weather and how it affects humans. I wrote a book called "Hurricane of Independence" about a deadly 1775 Newfoundland hurricane during the Revolution and looked at the science of the time and tried to reconstruct its human impact from the sources. Anyway, congrats on your new blog, and I'll look forward to joining the conversation from Williamsburg.
The weather this October has been all over the place! Not a huge fan; it's like mother nature is playing a cruel trick on us with her weather switch.
Switch up= GOOD WEATHER
Switch down= BAD WEATHER
Broken Switch= DONT ASK
Rick, Work your magic and change the weather...Pleeeease!!! i want a comfortable November month...i dont want to walk into an establishment looking like i just jumped into the Hudson River...
Hey Rick,
Its been a little cooler and rainy today, but still now snow. this is the longest Anchorage has gone with out a fall snow fall since 2003. The lastest snowfall was Nov 11 twice once in 1944 and 1950. But it looks like we will get some snow tonight and tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
Have fun with the family

Oh, hope you had a great fall weekend. The trees are really beautiful here in Northern Virginia.
