  • More snow in Texas!

    Hi everyone.

I’ve got a busy day today – and tomorrow we’re closing on our house, so I’ll be taking the day off for all the massive paperwork,  and lawyer visits.  I’m nervous, excited and a little overwhelmed by the whole event, and it still feels a little surreal to me.   So the blog will be quiet tomorrow, but I know you’ll keep things alive!  I’ll let you know how things go on Monday.  I think I’m going to ask my husband to pinch me once it’s done!  It all seems like a dream.  A dream come true!

I might not get to your comments today, so real quick I wanted to wish Dawn (Wenchie) a belated birthday!  Hope you’re day was great, and Clare and AJ, if you want to send pictures, my yahoo account seems to be working well in getting photos onto the blog.  It’s  Looking forward to seeing them.

Don, I know you had a weather related question too, which I think Margie did great research on.  I don’t think I even knew what the term was…I can’t remember what it was as I write this…:)  It sure did sound like a fancy meteorological word that I probably saw on a test at one time…and probably got wrong!

As far as weather news goes today, more snow is on the way for the south, and this time places across Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee could see snowflakes hitting the ground tomorrow and Friday!  Houston could see the earliest snowfall on record if they get an inch…Dallas saw the earliest snow yesterday in 90 years!  Wacky stuff.   TNDeb, if you get snow, you’ve got to take pictures, ok?  And I know we’ve got a few Texans on this blog that I hope will snap some snow shots for us!  HINT HINT!  Lake Charles is under a winter storm watch right now, which you can check out here:

Forgive the quick post, I have a crazy day today, but I wanted to check in, and say hello – and wish everyone a great weekend.  I’ll talk to you Monday!

Hey everyone, I hope everyone had a great weekend. It's cold here in Cumberland. I think it got down to 25 this morning. It's pretty cloudy today but no snow is in the forecast. Tomorrow they're calling for rain, sleet and freezing rain so that sounds like a lot of fun--NOT! Hey Deb, it's good to see you back on the blog! I missed you! Hey Janice, I e-mailed a few snow pictures to you this morning so I hope you get those. The snow on Saturday made for some great pictures. I hope everyone has a great Monday! Margie

We got down to 27 this morning and all that wet snow that fell yesterday froze on my car. The door wasn't completely frozen but I had to pull pretty hard to get it open. It's a beautiful sunny day today so I'm guessing most of the snow will melt during the day. It took me 10 minutes to clean off my car so I could go to church. We got about 4 inches of snow but there was a layer of ice on my windows and that's what took so long to clear off. My feet got soaked because I didn't think of putting boots on since the street was clear. I had to step in some snow that was on the grass next to my car in order to clear in off and that's how I got all wet. Now my feet feel like ice cubes. I hate that! It's days like this that make me wish I had a garage. I wish everyone a great day! Margie

Had a heck of a time getting into my car this morning. After all the rain yesterday and last evening the temp dropped to 30. I needed to put hot water on the lock to get the key to open the door. May just make the investment for a remote car starter if there not to expensive.

Give Chicagoans a nice day and cold temps everyone even the unsavory types will come out of the woodwork! Have a great day!!!!

Hey Janice and all, Sorry I have missed posting the past few days...been very busy with the start of a bathroom renovation. I had planned on doing it last Spring, but just got busy with other stuff and put it off. So, my ex and myself have started doing some of the deconstruction. First by taking out a 1 piece shower/bath combo, it will be repalced by a walk-in tile shower, floor to ceiling. It's going to be a slow process, because we are doing most of the work ourselves except for the tile. So maybe I will have it done by Spring. Congrats on your new home Janice, I am so happy for you and your family. :) We did get our first snow last night. 3 inches to be exact...but I didn't get any pictures and most of it has already melted. Sorry. Maybe next time. Hope all is well with everyone. I will try to check in more often. I feel like a stranger! ;) Have a great weekend ! Deb the lone stranger.

Hey everyone, I just thought I'd check in to say hello in case there's anyone lurking out there this weekend. (At least there were a few people around yesterday so I didn't feel like I was talking to myself!) It was so nice to sleep in this morning! I really needed it. I just came in from taking some pictures of the snow. It is a really wet snow but I got some great pictures. I'll send some to Janice so you can see our first snow of the season. It's too bad it couldn't wait a couple days because this weekend the health system is doing its final big move of the transition to the new hospital. They're moving the Materials Management department--the store room part of it and it's really not a good day to be moving. They're moving from the Braddock Hospital, which is the one on top of the mountain so I'm sure traveling is not too good from up there. Since the snow is so wet and it's just above freezing in town, I'm sure the highway is fine, but getting to the highway might be a problem. Hopefully they won't have any problems. I'll be busy decorating my house today. I need to get that done so I can start baking cookies for my party and open house next weekend. So much to do and so little time to do it! Have a great weekend everyone! Margie

Good evening... yes, Margie, I did catch Megyn and her return! It was wonderful to see her. Yates is sure a cutie, and you can see Megyn just glow and gush over him. Good for her. Prepping for 2-5 inches of snow in Blowing Rock tomorrow! Wonderful it will look pretty on our outdoor lights... nice! Have a great evening everyone. Cannot wait to hear how JD is doing... Joni

Hi Margie, I thought I'd check in to see if anyone was blogging today too. Looks like it's going to be pretty quiet! We too have a chance for a "dusting" of snow tonight and tomorrow. It was 31 degrees at my house this morning and the temps are supposed to drop into the 20s for lows tomorrow and Sunday. I would love to play in the snow for a little while, but the ground here is too warm for any snow to stay around if it falls. If it does snow, I'm going to send in pictures. At least I'm getting the chance to wear my Winter clothes. I may even have to find my gloves!!! Now, where did I put those gloves????? Hello to all the other bloggers out there. I hope everybody is having a great Friday! Gwen ;)

Somehow I knew the blog was going to be quiet today. If there's anyone out there, I hope you're having a good day. It's cloudy here and they're calling for just some light snow showers for tonight and tomorrow. If there is anyone out there in blog land, I hope you have a great weekend! I'll be putting up the rest of my Christmas decorations and preparing for my Christmas party/open house next weekend. Margie

Dallas did see an earlier snow of several inches on 13November1976. I know this because it was our wedding day. I still have the photos.
