  • Have a great weekend everyone!

    Hi there!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures I posted of Matthew’s party!  I’ve been a little swamped today, so apologies for the delay.  Day two of this winter blast across the southern plains, across the Tennessee River Valley and into the Midatlantic.  Memphis and Nashville need to keep on alert, and then the Carolinas particularly the Appalachians will be at risk for an icy mess.

I’m in tomorrow afternoon, so I’ll check in then!  Until then, have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Here’s a pic of me and my Sweet Pea!

Hello Everyone... I have been out in Colorado for the week visiting my parents. I was cooking and cleaning and just plain enjoying caring for them! It was tiring...but in a good way! Just love my parents to pieces. We arrived in Charlotte at 3pm Friday to light snow, by the time we arrived in Blowing Rock at 6pm it was sticking to the roads pretty good. We ended up with about 7 inches, far from the local forecasts of 14, dang it! we were prepared and looking forward to a good snow! It is cold and still snowing here at 2pm Saturday. I am relaxing in front of the fire, and taking the day off! Oh Janice.. the BD pics are A~dorable! and love the Mommie and Me pic! Too cute! Enjoy your Saturday everyone...Joni

Rolex can't walk in the 8" we have so far. She looks like a bounding deer.

Hey Gwen, You're more than welcome to come up to Western Maryland to shovel some snow! We only have a couple inches on the ground so it won't be too bad to shovel. It's the nice fluffy kind since it's so cold. Come up any time you like! Margie

An update: Well, I know meteorology is not an exact science and today proves that. As the week went by, they kept lowering the chance of precipitation for our area for today. Then I noticed this morning they changed to a 40% chance of a "dusting" of snow. Well, our dusting is now approaching 2 inches and it's still coming down hard! I don't think I'll be running any errands today! A couple places I wanted to go are on the other side of the mountain and a mountain is the last place I want to be in a snow storm! I have plenty to do around the house so I think that's where I'll stay. Margie

Good morning all, Just caught Janice on her weather hit. You look lovely in the blue, Janice. This Winter storm seems to be wreaking havoc on lots of our nation. All of that went north of us, so all we got was lots and lots of rain. Deb, I understand about the all electric home thing. We only have one fireplace (propane powered), so if and when our power goes out in the winter it gets really cold, really quick. Our one fireplace can't warm our entire house. We are looking at getting another source of heat--maybe something like an Ashley heater. We used to have one in our previous home, and it was great. Of course, there's the having to cut firewood. But we live in the middle of a 80 acre forest, so wood is not too much of an issue for us. Joni, Don, and guys stay warm too. I know you won't believe me, but I wish I was in Cherokee, NC right now. On some level a Winter storm can be quite an adventure. I can see some of you rolling your eyes as I say that, but you must remember that I'm from the Deep South. We don't get a lot of Winter weather here. Better go. I'm off to buy groceries at the commissary at NAS-Meridian. Hopefully, I'll be able to check back in later this afternoon. I've been missing y'all, and I've got lots to catch up on. I haven't even seen the birthday party pictures yet. Catch y'all later! Gwen ;)

Hey pjman, I hope you have a happy birthday tomorrow! I will try to wish you a happy birthday tomorrow on the actual day but since my brain hasn't been firing on all cylinders lately I thought I'd mention it today in case I forget tomorrow. Hey to everyone else out there! So far we've only had a high wind gust of 12 mph so the wind chill isn't too terribly bad. However, since the temperature is only 17, it doesn't take much of a wind to make things feel even worse. No snow here yet but it is really dark outside. The higher elevations might be seeing some snow but nothing in Cumberland yet. If you look at a radar, it looks like it should be snowing but I just looked out and didn't see anything. They're just calling for a dusting around here so I think I can handle that. I was going to go downtown for my video project but since there's not a bit of sun, I'll wait until tomorrow and hope for better weather. I'm scouting locations to do some filming for my video project for church. Of course, if it happens to be cloudy on the day I can get everyone together then it won't matter what direction the sun is shining from anyway. It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow so that will make it more comfortable for walking around. I can add film directing to my list of endeavors. Maybe I'll win an Oscar--HA! Well, I see I'll be running out of space soon so I'll just wish everyone a great day. Stay safe in that snow and cold! Margie

Local station upped us to 14" ending around midnight. I have never seen more birds eating then I have now. Any one have an idea where snow birds go when it's not snowing. There are at least six of them eating now.

Good Morning all. It's 8 and some wind here in N.J. It was so cold last night my husband and I slept with socks, sweat pant's and sweat shirts on Under 4 blankets. The windows rattled last night. I can't remember when it was this cold. Well that's it for my compliant for the day. Today I have to let my family know what I want for my birthday tomorrow. I have no idea I have my health and family to me that is enough. Times are tough and I don't want them to spend money. They tell me that's not good enough they want to get me something. I guess that's what LOVE is. I got to go now and clean the house. I have a feeling there will be company at my house tomorrow. Hope all have a good warm safe day. I can't wait to see JD later today.

I just checked the forecast for tomorrow and they put a chance of snow back in so we shall see. I have some errands to run so I hope it doesn't snow! The winds picked back up this afternoon and evening and now our wind chill is in the single digits. I'm glad I'm in my nice warm house! Margie

Hey Deb, Stay warm and safe down there! I hope you don't get too much but I guess it's better to get snow than ice. Be careful! Margie

Great picture JD and sweet pea! Well it just started snowing here. Very heavy flurries. Our local forecast predicts 6-12 inches for my area. I live on a higher elevation than Nashville, so it's colder and we usually get more of the white stuff. Temps are in the lower 20's and the wind is freezing cold. brrrrr I hope their wrong. I am as prepared as I can be. Got groceries, hot chocolate, Fox, and heat, unless the power goes out, and then I'm in trouble. My heat is back up source. Take care Janice and all, I will check in later, and update the weather conditions. Deb :)
