  • New storm will cause problems coast to coast

    Hi everyone!

Well, the questions have started here!  “When is it coming?  How much snow?”  Yes, we have a new storm that could bring another nor’easter and disruptive travel across the 1-95 corridor Monday into Tuesday.  The storm is going to originate in the west bringing more wet weather to the west coast, and more fears of flooding and mudslides for southern California.  Over the weekend, the storm will travel across the plains, with plenty of Gulf moisture in play.  Snow, sleet, freezing rain and heavy rain will be the story as this system travels eastward.  And then Monday into Tuesday, a secondary low will spin off-shore, and be in play for the Northeast early next week.  Something we need to watch very carefully obviously.  And looking even further out, another potentially stronger storm could also be looming late next week bringing snow to the deep south and possibly a nasty snowstorm to the northeast.    Not fun news, I’m afraid.

Tomorrow we’re headed to Matthew’s BFF’s birthday party in the City!  Matthew and his buddy are almost the same age, and used to play together on a regular basis until we moved out to the ‘burbs.  I’m so excited to get them back together again!  Sounds like there will be some food and beverages for the mommies and daddies as well which I am very happy about! ;)

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I’ll keep you posted on the upcoming storms if there’s any breaking news…

And in the “awesome u-tube video” file, watch this, and make sure you’ve got the volume up!

Hi everyone, I had a busy day today but I'm finally slowing down a little. I did check the blog a couple times but didn't take the time to write anything. But you know me; I can't let a day go by without saying something! We had a lovely 48 degrees today. It wasn't full sunshine but it was wonderful anyway. The snow is melting and I'm seeing a little more ground each day. In fact, I saw some little daffodil stems popping up from under the snow. The more the snow melts, the more daffodils I see--hooray! Gwen, that sermon on forgiveness sounds great. One of the projects I was working on today was the video for my church and the song is called "Forgive". My friend Brent came over with his mom and we brainstormed some ideas. I had some ideas for what I wanted to do but Brent and Vicki added some great ideas of their own. I think it will be a powerful video. I hope everyone had a great weekend and will be rested up for the week ahead. It now sounds like we're going to have more rain than frozen precipitation so I hope that is correct. The rain will help wash off all the winter grime on my car so that will be nice. Have a great week ahead, everyone! Margie

Hey everybody, It's been another beautiful, Spring-like day here today. Late this afternoon the clouds began to move in, though, and now we're supposed to have rain for a day or so and a return to cooler weather. I guess Winter isn't going to let go without a fight. Nothing much interesting to tell today. It's been a fairly routine early, then Sunday dinner for my bunch. After that I napped as hubby watched the race. We live such an edgy life, don't we? HA!! We did have an excellent sermon this morning about forgiveness. Our associate pastor did today's sermon, and he always does such a great job. I wish I could tell you all that he said, but his main point was that, as Christians, we are to forgive transgressions if we expect to be forgiven. End of sermon. Guess I'll go now and see if I can find anything for supper. The huge pot of spaghetti I made earlier is is the pan of brownies. Hubby is making a pot of deer chili, but it won't be ready until tomorrow night. He says it has to "season" overnight to let all the flavors be just right. I'll try to check in tomorrow. I have that audit in the afternoon, so my day may be a bit stressful. Catch y'all later! Gwen ;)

Sunday Morning All, Guess we are trying to feel y'all's painl, as we have sunny, showers, clouds, and sun again. Looks like that will be our pattern for next week, we still aren't up to par with rain yet, so we won't complain. I am hanging in there guys, I have my moments and try to have them alone and be happy for all we had and that my guy is in a much better place....the notes and calls and cards keep me going. Just got an email of how he helped a fellow worker when he was down and depressed in 1968 he was always thought of that way by all who knew him, he was what we use to call "a good ole shoe". Couldn't walk Sammy the dog with Jan today as too muddy, could drive 7 miles to the beach but Sunday morning laziness has hit the both of us. Wish I could know how to send you a utube of Sammy our adopted Dutch family took when they were here, when they walked him at the beach, Sammy is a wild and crazy guy and everyone stops and ask about him, he makes me laugh everyday. Hope you all are slowly recovering from the whiteout of the past weeks and so happy so far it seems you all kept safe and sound through it all. Love, AJ

Hi everyone, We've had a lot of action on the blog today--I like that! We had sunshine and 47 degrees today. I can't remember the last time it was 47! I went out and chiseled the ice off my downspout. There is a really crazy junction where the downspout on the second story meets up with a downspout that runs along the edge of my porch and the section that goes to the ground and it looks like the caulking around there is coming loose and allowed the water to run out. I hadn't been outside in that area for a while and the water froze the whole way from the junction to the ground. A hammer and chisel and warmer temperatures took care of the ice. I'll keep an eye on it now until it warms up enough where I can caulk it. Hey Gwen, I'm very jealous of your 66 degrees! That would feel delightful, although I must say 47 felt pretty good today. I bet you'll have stuff in bloom before you know it. I could actually see a little bit of ground right next to my porch so maybe with another sunny day tomorrow I'll see more of it. Have a great evening, everyone. Margie

Afternoon everybody, Beautiful sunny day here in my South. I think we're supposed to reach 66 today. That's the warmest it's been in weeks. We've had a week now of beautiful sun, and I had almost forgotten how nice it is. I love to pull the blinds up on my big windows across the back of my living room and watch the hills and hollows behind my house. From here I can see for miles...quite like being in the lovely mountains of NC. In a couple of months the sun will bring humid, Summer heat. But for's super nice. Some of you are so industrious. I'm really impressed that you've started your Spring cleaning! Maybe you need to send some of that motivation my way. I spent most of my morning grocery shopping. Now I'm kinda doing minimal housework...just the get me through until next weekend. Hopefully by then I'll be more motivated. Must run for now. The dryer is beeping. Catch y'all later! Gwen ;)

Good morning everyone, We're supposed to get up to around 40 today. I didn't check my weather station, but I think we were in the low 40's yesterday. However, the wind has not let up so it really doesn't feel that nice outside. We've been having plenty of snow melt, though. Of course, with that come the pot holes so it's been rather adventurous driving around town. Cumberland must have some of the worst streets in the country to begin with so all the new pot holes make a miserable situation even worse. Our forecast for Monday is now for rain and freezing rain. Somehow I think I'd rather see snow than freezing rain, but hopefully the temperature will stay above freezing for most of the precipitation. Is it spring yet??????? I hope everyone has a great weekend. Margie

Hello Everyone...happy Sunny Saturday! It is warming up to close to 50 today! We will need many days of 50 to begin the melt down. But this weekend promises to give us some warmth and melting! AJ... you are so sweet. Hold your arms out because when I hit 'send' you will receive a huge, tight hug from me! Thanks for keeping in touch with us, like I said days ago we all think the world of you and enjoy hearing from you! Take care of you right now, the windows will wait! And yes, JD, photos of Matt would be great! It has been a long while since we have seen the cutie! Joni

Rick says this is going to be a beautiful weekend in my neck of the woods. About time. Not that there is much to do outside this time of year. It will just be nice not to have to shovel snow or watch it fall. I hope everyone has weather to match. Have a great day. chas
