    "To be the best, you have to beat the best..."

    Hi everyone!

    I was reminded of that saying “To be the be the best, you have to beat the best” last night after the Olympic Hockey Game.  Both teams were superb, and it was truly a fabulous game.    For a few hours, we all gathered in front of the television to watch the best and the brightest athletes play their hearts out.   Truthfully, I wish both teams could’ve won gold.   I do think Canadians have an advantage in hockey though since parents will put their newborns into skates before they even learn how to walk!   It’s part of their blood and DNA!  Both countries have so much to be proud of.  The Americans dominated the Olympics, and I cheered passionately for both countries throughout the games.  Such amazing stories from all these young athletes.  I can’t imagine how magical such an experience  would be for all these men and women.  And everyone did it with such class.  They all deserve our round of applause.

    In my own little home Olympics, Matthew finally walked this weekend.  He’s been cruising for weeks now, and standing on his own for longer periods of time.  He didn’t even realize he was doing it until my husband and I broke out in applause after we saw him walk on his own.  He had two little toys in his hand and was watching the television (we had on the Olympics ironically!), when all of a sudden he decided to walk 4 or 5 steps!  Once he realized what he was doing, he fell down, but knew something pretty important had occurred!    We caught the second “walk” on video which I’ll try to post if I can figure out how to download a Flip link.   Mom was crying like a baby in the background!  Such an amazing milestone seeing your child walk.  I’m still in shock! 

    In weather news, Happy March 1st Everyone!  February seemed to go on forever, didn’t it?  Spring officially arrives in a couple of weeks, and it looks like we’ll have a good stretch of relatively warmer weather to melt some of that historic snow over the midatlantic and northeast.  We do have a storm across the south that will bring mainly rain over the southern plains and southeast, but on the northern fringes, some snow will fly across parts of Oklahoma, and Texas…up into parts of Tennessee.  The mountains will see the most accumulation.  There’s a possibility for some stronger storms over the southeast tomorrow, so we’ll keep an eye on that.  Not expecting this system to affect the northeast as it looks like the low moves out to sea, but we’ll watch it nevertheless.

    And such awful news out of Chile this weekend.  Even though earthquakes aren’t part of the field of Meteorology, it’s still part of the earth sciences,  and one of those events you just can’t wrap your head around.  I wish technology was better to predict these potentially catastrophic occurences.    At least in the event of a hurricane or even a tornado to some extent there is some preparation time.  These poor people had no idea that their lives were going to change forever in the middle of the night.  Yet another reminder that we need to appreciate every day we have.

Hi Dear Ones, First of all ....Don..........you will so be in my prayers...we pray for you good travelling weather and most of all we pray for good results on that biopsy...from all I read, you couldn't be with a better institution, God Bless Don. Julia..........thank you, I just got a phone call from April the manager's wife at our Chick Fil a and they are sooooo very excited and looking forward to Clare's Celebration of Life Saturday and so am I, even though it will be one of the toughest things I will do, going in there without him, but I know I will have the love and support of all my Angels that day far and wide and that includes all my Angel bloggers....I told April about what you folks are doing and she could not believe that and at this moment she is looking at the blog and reading all your blogs to me and that one by one you all said you were going to Chick Fil A. that day......wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. JD...........Yea......the date we have been waiting for, can just picture him taking off, thank goodness you guys were right there to witness it and even video it the second time around...........look out now...there will be no stopping him hereafter...........how wonderful and what memory in your heart for this moment the 3 of you shared just between yourselves. My heart aches so bad for Jennifer and her beautiful family..............and pray God will give us a miracle.xoAJ

Hey Janice, Now you'll really have your hands full with Matthew figuring out the art of walking! He'll keep you on your toes for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing the video when you post it. I was thinking about you yesterday when Canada won the hockey game. If anyone had to beat the US, I'm glad it was Canada. It was an exciting game and I'm sure the country is still partying! Hey Gwen, Happy 5th birthday to Katie Gwen! I hope she has a really fun day! Hey to everyone else, I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. I'm hoping to catch up on my sleep now that the Olympics are over! Yay, Matthew! My two girls were about 8 months when they finally sat up without tipping over, and 13+ months when they walked. It's both a blessing and a curse because they just get harder to catch once they learn to walk & run. :) And everything in the house has to be lifted to a higher level. Clear off the coffee table and low shelves! Have you seen the video on Jennifer's blog showing Luke walking around with the trash can? When she calls him he goes through a door and slams it in her face. He definitely had his own agenda working. Hope everyone is continuing their prayers for Jen. She's one of a kind.

Afternoon all, Okay, Don. Let me see...maybe Easter and Christmas Day. That's my guess; I may be wrong, but I can't think of any sports that are played those days. JD, How sweet that Matthew walked!!! We were all wrong on our predictions, but he did it in his own time. That's the thing you find out about kids...they do things when they get good and ready to. Hope you can get the video up and running. Cloudy and 57 here in my South...but last night's moon was fabulous again. Around 6:30 last night, the moon was full and on the horizon. It had an orangey glow and absolutely filled up the sky. I was driving at the time and didn't have my camera with me. I don't think I've been able to get good pictures of the moon before. But I just wish I could have captured it and sent it to each one of y'all. It was SPECTACULAR!!! I, too, hated to see the US lose the hockey game last night. I know the Canadians were thrilled, and I knew JD was thrilled too. Must admit I wasn't watching, but one of my son's came in and told me the score when it was over. I did watch a good bit of the Olympics, but not as much as in years past. Not too sure why I wasn't as interested this go round. Too much other stuff going on, I guess. Hello to everybody! Hope all are having a great March 1st....my beautiful Katie Gwen's 5th birthday. She's such a precious baby girl! Gotta run. Catch y'all later! Gwen ;)

Go Matthew. I look forward to the video. The local station here say we may get 1/10" of snow tomorrow night along with rain. Hope they are correct. Heading up to John Hopkins Wednesday morning for a biopsy Thursday morning. Need to be there 3:00pm Wednesday. I miss the Olympics already. That sure was a pretty part of Canada. Speaking of sports here is a trivia question. Thinking baseball, football, hockey and basketball, what are the only two days in the year that none of these sports are played in the states?
