    Hi everyone!

Well, I had every intention to stay up and watch the Academy Awards last night, but at around 9:30 I was bored silly, so I flipped on the “record” button on my DVR and went to bed.  Wow.   I thought the opening montage was silly, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were ok, but just ok.  George Clooney looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there, and I just decided getting sleep was a better idea than wasting time waiting for the show to get better.  The other thing that has me stumped is that every award that was given out was PREDICTED by most entertainment reporters/magazines/shows.  How is this exciting?  I suppose the fact that I hadn’t seen any of these movies also helped make my decision to hit the hay pronto.  Watching the red carpet was ok, but everything was so scripted and boring as well.    Some people looked great (Sandra Bullock) while others need to eat a sandwich!  It was actually painful watching some of these actresses do interviews as their bones were literally protruding through their skin.  Yikes.   I’m all for being healthy, and trying to be in the best shape possible, but these gals look like they survive on coffee and a cracker.   I might breeze through some of the show tonight, but I think I might just skip watching it altogether.

We had a spectacular weekend that I never wanted to end!  Sunshine and temperatures pushing 60 degrees.  We drove to Central Park on Saturday to take Matthew on a stroll which was so fun.  It’s amazing what a little taste of spring will do to lift your spirits!  Yesterday we met some of the neighbors in our little hood, and some future babysitters for Matthew as all of the kids are coming out of hiding as the snow melts.   There were soccer balls, basketballs and bikes coming out of the garages on Sunday.  Such a wonderful sight.  I love spring.   Matthew is getting much better at walking now, and I think we’re just weeks away from him sprinting!    We’re in trouble now!

Speaking of spring, since we’re getting into the change of seasons, the risk of severe weather is on the increase, and we could see the risk for some nasty storms including tornadoes this week.   A developing storm moving in from the southwest will bring showers and thunderstorms to the southern plains with a slight risk for isolated severe weather over the Texas and Oklahoma panhandle.  A new storm system pushing into the Northwest will bring showers and higher elevation snow.  This will be the weather-maker midweek that could bring the risk of severe storms for the central U.S. and possibly the Gulf Coast states.  We’ll be on severe weather watch this week from the extreme weather center!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Yes, I know I need to get some new pics of Matthew up.  Hopefully this afternoon or tomorrow when my hubby sends me the latest.  I’m on it!

    Talk to you soon!

Hi Everyone, JD......sounds like you are getting familar with your neighborhood and the folks in it, best that is quite a change from apartment living in the city, then the 3 of you driving into Central Park what a wonderful day for your wonderful little family spending time in your favorite place with your favorite guys. Glad..I went to church concert instead of staying home for Steve Martin and a boring program, the concert was wonderful and not boring and the young folks did a wonderful job, evening well spent. Margie...........that is so scary...that is how easily something bad can happen to good people, like you said a real good lesson...seems like none of us can be too careful these days...and though we are taught to be kind to strangers....as they could be Angels unaware...but the times we are living in..are preventing us from doing that. Soooooo glad you are safe. We just lost to young girls here in San Diego area to bad guys...so, so sad. I remember so well being about 5 and my Grandma saying "do not talk to strangers" and now these days you shouldn't even ever go anywhere alone... Don.....Praying for your strength to "hang in there" and put one foot in front of the other and know how much you are in all our prayers, you have to do it for Rolex...and you have the best hospital and Drs. JD.....pictures, pictures, pictures.....need Matthew pictures. just of him, of the 3 of you, of him walking, at his friends birtthday party. AJ

Hey Janice and All, JD..glad you enjoyed your weekend with your little family. It's amazing at all the activity warm temps bring out in the hood. :) Weekend was good...and today was a Beautiful Day! A high of 72...the warmth felt so good. I agree JD, it does wonders for the Spirit. More warm temps for the next few days...but w/ rain. The Academy Awards show was disappointing...although I did endure the whole thing....it was a bummer this year. The highlight was Sandra Bullock...she seems to light up everything! Margie...what a scary experience...you just never know about people. Don...I can't imagine what you have been going through...it would have to be overwhelming. I would be a mess. I will continue to pray that the surgery will be successful and that you will be healthy and stronger than ever. Have a good evening, Deb

Beautiful day here. Expect a high of 64 today, 67 tomorrow, 70 Wednesday, 65 Thursday and 71 Friday. We still have one little patch of snirt. (snow covered with dirt) Would expect it will be gone tomorrow. It's been a long journey for me. Two years next month I had my first symptoms. The first urologist misdiagnosed me and I loss fourteen months before another doctor found the cancer. Total of 12 treatments didn't due a thing and in fact the cancer has spread some. Except for some minor constant lower back pain, physically I feel fine. Mentally is another story. It's really scary not knowing if this major surgery will get it all or even if I'll survive it.

Hey pjman, Times have changed. We used to do all kinds of things that I would never let a child do these days. Nowadays you have all kinds of crazy people trying all kinds of things. I'm glad the police showed up when they did and I'm glad my neighbor and I didn't tell him anything about the people he asked about. He asked questions but since we didn't know them well, we didn't provide any information. I will be much more careful in the future. Had he come up to my house I would have asked for an ID but since we were all outside I didn't even think of it. Next time I will! It did freak me out but at least he didn't have a gun. Margie

Margie sounds like you had a exciting Saturday. I'm glad you are safe and the police got there before anything could happen. I just cant believe how the world has change. I remember going out with my friends not a care in the world as long as we were home before mom could say our first middle and last name all was safe then.

Hi Janice, I'm glad you had a nice weekend & were able to get outside to enjoy the lovely weather. I'm sure Matthew will be running all over the place as the weather warms up. You'll get plenty of exercise chasing after him! Be sure to post pictures because you know how we love to see him. Speaking of pictures, I sent you some yesterday so I hope you get those. Hey to everyone else, I had an interesting adventure Saturday afternoon. My next door neighbor rang my doorbell & while we talked on my front porch, a guy came up asking about someone who used to live a couple houses down from me. He said he was from child protective services & he was checking on the guy because he was a registered sex offender. As we talked, a city police car came up & the officer started talking to the guy, who at that point was talking on a cell phone. Well, at that point, more & more police showed up & we wound up with 4 city police cars & 2 state police cars. It turned out that the guy lied to us & he was the ex of someone who currently lives in the house. He thought no one was home but apparently they were there & they must have called the police. He apologized for lying to us & he said that he was just going to talk to them & then kill himself. I have no idea if that was the truth. The police searched him & his truck but I don’t think they found a gun. We didn’t tell him anything but the next time someone comes up with a story like that, I’ll make sure I ask to see an ID. What a day! Margie
