    Back and Broke!

    Hi everyone!

    Well, I’m back from Viva Las Vegas.  Had a fantastic time, but MAN is it expensive there!  (Unless your lucky at the gambling tables which I clearly am not!)

    I took many pictures on a brand new camera that I just realized I have no idea how to operate when it comes to uploading pictures.  I will check the manual tonight, and hopefully I’ll have something to show you tomorrow.  The weather was COLD!  Pretty wild considering we had 90 degree weather in the east.  We struggled to get out of the 60s the first few days.  And of course, this week it’s going to be hot there.  Me and the girls had so much fun.  We saw Jerry Seinfeld at Caesars Palace, The Jersey Boys and a British fella named Matt Goss who I think is better than Michael Buble.  Seinfeld was fantastic, and what I loved about his act is he was hilarious without needing to swear every 2 seconds.  There were no f-bombs dropped during his performance which I though was really great.  I miss his show so much, so it was wonderful seeing him again.  He’s a class act.   The Jersey Boys was amazing too.  I’ve wanted to see that show here in New York, but it’s been so hard to get out at night.  This was the perfect opportunity. 

    We ate delicious food, drank fancy drinks with fruit and umbrellas on top, and pampered ourselves.  A wonderful girls trip.  Of course, I missed my boys, but Sean kept me posted on how little Matt was doing.  I had tears in my eyes when I got to the airport and saw my little one running around in baggage claim hamming it up in front of everyone.  He seemed to be glad to see his mama when I finally came into his view.  A quick hug, and then he was back running around the terminal.   I also am proud to say I gave Matthew his first haircut yesterday.  We tried to have a hairdresser do it a few weeks ago, but he cried and cried, so mom tried last night, and I have to admit I did a pretty darn good job!

    So, while I was gone, I must admit that I didn’t turn on the television, so when I got home, I was bombarded with horrible stories about the oil spill, tornadoes and floods across the south and the failed terror plot in Times Square.  It just seems like things are going crazy!  I’m thankful no one got hurt here in New York,  but my heart goes out to all the people across the south whose homes are lost to floods and severe weather.  Thankfully, things are calmer this week in terms of awful weather.  There is a chance of strong thunderstorms over the Great Lakes today, but we’re not talking about tornadoes.   We have a new storm out of the Rockies that will bring some May snow to parts of Montana and Wyoming tomorrow.  And it looks like winds will be fairly calm over the next few days across the Gulf which hopefully means we can get some containment of that horrible oil spill.   

    Hope you’re all doing well today!   I think I need to be on a detox diet the rest of the week.  All that food and drink has made my pants shrink!  :)

JD, Glad to hear you enjoyed Vegas. I agree that watchoing a funny comedian that doesn't have to use four letter words is a rare treat these days. I remember Red Skelton being interviewed years ago stating he would NEVER use offensive language. Too bad that is the exeption these days. Margie, I enjoyed reading your new blog! Great work. I am keeping Don in my prayers and looking forward to seeing Tony on C-Span Book TV. Hope all are well. In the 90's today so better go mow now. JB

Animal House

Glad you had a great time. We all deserve a break from the "norm" every now and then. I'm taking mine next week on the beach in OBX ( Outer Banks in NC ).......and like you, there will be no television, no radio, no newspapers, no computers. A true break from "reality"......or, is the beach reality and this the paranormal? LOL.

JD~ Glad you had a good time in Las Vegas! DON UPDATE: Hey everyone. Don left a message on my answering machine this afternoon. He didn't get to go home today. His white blood count is up so they were calling in an infectious disease doctor. That's all he said but I could tell he was very disappointed. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks! Margie

Jan glad you had a good time in Vegas.Those 4 letter words in a show turn me off too. I live in AZ and look at the forcast on foxes intnet site. One thing that bothers me and stands out to us AZ folks is the spelling of Tucson on your weather map for the southwest. Could you correct it please.Thanx Dick from Yuma.

Hi, JD! So glad you're back! Vegas is a fun place..even if you don't gamble. I don't, but I do love the shows, the food, the lights, the people. It's a neat place! I know your men were glad to have you back home. There's been so much happening in the world since you left. Here...it's HOT! Expecting 90's today. Hopefully, we'll cool down by the weekend. My hubby always cut our boys' hair when they were small. Now, he's the grandsons' barber. The tradition continues! Bye! Gwen :)

Hey Janice, welcome back! I'm glad you had such a great time. I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures! Your description of Matthew in the airport is priceless. I would have loved to have seen him showing off all that cuteness! As far as the weather in Cumberland--absolutely beautiful! The sky is beautiful and the sun is warm and it was really hard coming back inside after lunch today. I'd rather be outside! Hey to everyone else out there. I hope everyone has a great afternoon! Welcome home JD, sooo happy you had a happy girls weekend in Vegas, I think Mommy's need that and glad you did it and it was ..............gooood. Bet the boys enjoyed themselves also, maybe you can be the first weather/haircut lady on Fox. Yea,yea, just got a call from Dell, man will be here tomorrow with my new Mother Board, just in time for Mother's Day and fix it..........hopefully..now if their equipment was as good as their service........God Bless All.
