  • Severe weather outbreak tomorrow...

    Hi everyone

It’s a nasty day across the northeast as a coastal storm gets its act together, and brings heavy rain, winds and the threat for flooding through the day.  Hopefully this won’t affect voter turnout in Pennsylvania since they are dealing with wet weather through much of the state for today’s primaries.  The rest of the states voting today don’t have the same weather issues as PA, and since they have a very close race, I’m sure the candidates are hoping the rain doesn’t keep voters away.

Meanwhile, we are watching the potential for a significant severe weather outbreak again tomorrow across parts of North Texas and into Oklahoma and Kansas.  The same areas that have been hammered by tornadoes and strong storms over the past few weeks.   We have the risk for severe weather this afternoon and tonight – but tomorrow’s threat will be a little more serious with the potential for large, long lasting tornadoes.

Here’s a look at the bulls eye today and tomorrow from the storm prediction center:

And you can click HERE to see the latest watches and warnings:

The other weather-related news story we are watching is the oil spill that now appears to be pushing into the Gulf Loop current which is a warm current that travels in the Gulf, through the Florida Straits and up the southeast coast.  Obviously this is a pretty scary scenario as it potentially means we are going to see oil through the Florida Keys and perhaps even across the east coast.  If you want to read more on this story, Dr. Jeff Masters covers this very well in his blog post yesterday HERE.  And considering we could have an early start to hurricane season this year, I’m sure this story is not going to go away, and could get worse with oil spreading across the U.S. mainland.

So that’s about it for now.  The lunchtime tummy growls are coming fast and furious…

    Talk to ya’all soon!

We are experiencing our "Blackberry Winter". When the blackberry bushes bloom, we have a cool down, but after that it's Hot to stay. We didn't get above 60 today, but we are supposed to be 90 on Monday. What happened to the 70's for awhile??? well my son approved of the mower I selected, so tomorrow he is picking it up for me. It's a big deal for me, cuz I spend alot of time on the mower, I mow about 2 acres, so I will be in heaven on my new wheels! woohoo! Have a good evening everybody. TTYLDeb

DON UPDATE: Hey folks, I just heard from Don and they finally figured out what's wrong with him. He has an infection in his blood and, although it is hard to treat, now that they know what it is, they will be able to treat it and he will eventually feel better. It also explains why he's been having trouble with his blood pressure. He got the infection either at Hopkins or where he is now since it's a hospital-acquired infection. These things happen but at least they know what's going on. Margie

Hey Janice, we got 1.2" of rain yesterday. What an ugly day! So far today it's just been a little misty & cold but it's a whole lot better than yesterday! I after today, I will be off for the rest of the week. Tomorrow I'm getting some work done on my car & then Thursday I'll be off for an overnight trip. It's only an hour & a half away so I don't have far to travel. I'll be visiting some pretty gardens & museum on Thurs. & then Skyline Drive in VA on Fri. The weather looks good for that. Margie
