  • Major floods in Texas!

Good morning everyone.  A crazy morning in east Texas where we have ongoing high water rescues happening southeast of Dallas, and reports of flood waters getting into homes.  Some areas of southeast Texas received 10 inches of rain yesterday as a cut-off low continues to bring extremely heavy rain and the threat for flooding to the Lone-Star state.  Look at these storm totals!

An additional 2-3 inches of rain could fall in isolated areas again today. Flash flood watches/warnings are still up.   Unfortuntately, one man died yesterday in flood waters in New Braunfels.  There are reports of getting into homes now just outside of Dallas.   An Upper Level low is the culprit here that continues to spin over the area bringing deep Gulf Moisture in, and dropping enormous amounts of rain to the same areas.

In other weather news, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to move across the eastern U.S as a low pressure system and associated cold front stretches down the coast and across the southeast.   We’re not expecting any severe weather here, however, a new storm out of the Rockies will bring the threat for strong to severe storm through the day across the western plain states.

    Here’s a look at today’s set-up:

That’s all for now.  Hope everyone has a safe afternoon, and we’ll talk to you tomorrow!  FRIDAY Yipeeeeeeeeee!

Ah Friday.... Oh wait everyday is Saturday to chas

Gwen in Mississippi

Hi all. It's a miserably hot day in my South! Heat index yesterday was 110...should be that or worse today. I just ran an errand for my boss, and my car never did get cool. Some of that Texas rain would be welcomed here. It's very dry too. Y'all take care. Gwen :)

Hey Janice, I can't imagine getting 10 inches of rain--that's a lot! It's hard to comprehend that much water. We have a beautiful sunny day here in Cumberland. It is quite warm outside, however. It's not a good day for air conditioning problems in the building where I work. They are working on it so it feels a little better, but boy was it stuffy in here earlier. I have a little fan that I used earlier but it does feel better now. Have a great afternoon, all. Margie

Hey Janice, I havent written in a while but I do check you blog most everyday. Its summer up here in AK. Cloudy and in the 50's today but thunderstorms are likely for the Interior and maybe around here. Thunderstorms here are so much smaller than in the lower 48. Our max tops can reach up to 32,000' or higher but most of them are only 20,000'. Lots of wild fires up here too. Allison is doing great. She is at gymnastics now. She loves it. Well thats all for now....take care
