    Get to know Maria Molina!

    Hi everyone!

    As you know, we have a brand new addition to our Fox News Weather team.    Maria Molina has joined us, and we’re so excited to have her!  I thought it would be fun to ask her a few questions and post them on the blog for you to read and get to know her!   If you have any other questions, you can include them in the comments,  and I will make sure she gets them!  If there’s enough of them, I’ll do a Part 2 with Maria!  (Keep them classy ya’all!)   I’ve also included a couple of pictures of our weather team (pregnant belly and all!) LOL!

    Where did you grow up?   What kind of weather affected the place where you lived?

    I was born in Nicaragua and grew up in South Florida for most of my childhood and teenage years. The weather in South Florida changes very quickly, one second it’s a beautiful sunny day, and then the next, strong thunderstorms can move through. Sometimes, it even rains with the sun out.

    What got you interested in Meteorology?

    My interest in meteorology happened very early in my life, I was about five years old when Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida. I was very scared when the storm moved through our area. I remember all the sounds very vividly; the wind blowing hard, things banging around outside and water entering our home from any crack it could get through. It was then that I knew I wanted to forecast these powerful storms and warn people when they are coming to their area.

    Any particular weather “events” that you enjoy covering?

    I enjoy covering severe weather events, from hurricanes to tornadoes. I really believe that advance notice of these dangerous weather events can help save lives and property.

    What’s your favorite weather/time of year and why?

    I love all times of the year. Growing up in South Florida, I never really had a “real” winter. But I have found that I love it just as much as summer, especially during the holidays. I love a white Christmas!

    Do you have friends or family that rely on you for their own personalized forecast?

    Anytime my family is planning outdoor plans, they contact me. My uncle owns a roofing company, so weather is very important in his business. Earlier this year, my best friend had an outdoors wedding, so I was busy trying to forecast a front that was going to move through Central Florida. Luckily, it didn’t rain for her wedding. Sometimes, we weather people get blamed for bad weather.

    Do you have friends or family that rely on you for their own personalized forecast?

    When I meet new people and they find out I am a meteorologist, they usually ask me for their personal forecast and say, “is it going to rain?” Don’t worry about asking me it, the joke never gets old.

    What do you like to do in your spare time outside of work?

    On my spare time, I love to eat New York City pizza, furniture shop for my new apartment and take strolls in Central Park with friends. This December, I will be getting a new puppy, so I think most of my spare time then will be spent training my new buddy in hopes that it doesn’t chew up all my new furniture.

    How do you like working here at Fox so far?

    I absolutely love working for Fox. Covering weather events on a national level is very exciting and allows me to forecast for all kinds of weather. As a bonus, everyone is very kind and helpful, especially my weather team, Janice, Rick and our weather producer Brandon!

Maria Molina is quite impressively smart in her answers to Janice's questions. I enjoy watching her forecasts when she's on. She looks very humble & makes her a great team member of the FNC. good luck to you Maria! You're lucky to have a spot at Fox, a very reliable news cable!

I love Fox News and also Maria, your new weather lady. She's easy on the eyes. One observation: She should take a breath more often. She speaks so fast and strings her sentences together too quickly. I know....I'm a bad guy. Jim

Been a long weekend here. Friday evening one of our young farm family members (he was 14 years old) was hit by a car and didnt survive. We are in a fog. His family in a tailspin (his dad worked on the farm when HE was a kid) This was his and his twin brother's first harvest season at the farm. He was a GREAT kid. Nice, polite. etc. Tell those that you love, that you do. Life is a gift. Count your blessings. Never know when it's over.

Hi folks, I thought I'd check in to say hello. It's a beautiful sunny day here in Cumberland with a temperature around 50 degrees. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I've been busy as usual. I'm hoping to get some business taking family photos for Christmas so I'm getting my living room decorated. Now hopefully I can get some customers! I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend. Even though I enjoy all of the FOX weather personalities, I have to say that Maria is absolutely gorgeous and I know it will sound like a corny cliche, but Maria, is the Fox of Fox weather. Janice, you are still awesome and loved.

Mornin' all, It's Brrr-ish in Tn. today. 20's last night, 35 right now, and not expected to go much higher. We had sleet and a few snow flurries, but it didn't stick. I'm gonna lay around in my pj's for awhile and do nothing. Have a great weekend. Thoughts and prayer for Don.

Hi folks. I hope everyone has a great weekend. We're only supposed to have a high of 45 today--brrrr! Don called me yesterday. He was having a bad day as far as pain is concerned so he was getting ready to take another pain pill. He goes back to Johns Hopkins on the 29th for his next procedure. He hasn't seen Rolex for a few days so he misses her but hopefully he'll get to see her this weekend. He appreciates everyone's thoughts & prayers. I'll keep you posted as I hear anything new. Good morning all. I can finally say it was cold in TX Woke up to 37 and didn't want to get out from under the covers. They say will be in the 60's that is OK. Don't forget to set the clocks back one hour tonight. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Will check in later to see if anyone is around. PJ

Margie thanks for the update. Please tell Don I am praying for him. Blog has been a little slow. I have a question when do people in Tx stop grilling. My husband said never. I can see him out there in the snow if we get any. Well hope all have a great weekend. I will check in tomorrow. PJ

Hey Gwen (and all). I talked to Don a few days ago & he was hanging in there. He had a tube replaced & that helped to alleviate the pain he was experiencing. He's still waiting to hear from Johns Hopkins about another test/procedure he may need. He lost a little more weight but he is finding some foods that taste good to him (like shrimp cocktail). He's managed to stay out of the hospital so he's happy about that. He gets to see Rolex & gets plenty of doggie kisses! I'll keep you posted. Margie

Afternoon guys! Just crusin' through to see if a new thread was up. Since there's not, I'll just comment here. It's been another beautiful day here...highs only in mid 50s. How nice! Overnight lows may get into the upper 20s. Yikes! Margie, have you talked with Don lately. Seems like some time since I've heard an update. Nothing much going on with me today. Just TGIF! Hey PJ, I haven't heard anything about the job yet. I think it will take a while to hear once they decide because they will have to do a background check on whoever they pick. I had to fill out some paper work for that so that will have to be done & they'll have to check the references. I'll let you all know when I hear something one way or another. Thanks for asking! Hi Maria! I live in Mazatlan Mexico and watch Fox News Channel on SKY satellite. I love Fox because everyone is like family to one another and it really comes across that way to the viewer. Do you follow sun spots at all and do you think they have anything to do with the weather? I've heard that some large ones might be on the way to us in the next few months. Also, there don't seem to be any regular hourly type weather casts during the day... Keep up the good work and welcome!

hey, FOX WEATHER! Welcome aboard, MARIA. We don't have tv in our home, but we do have internet, and I listen to the audio of FOX NEWS all day on my SIRIUS satellite radio in my truck . Seeing as I haul wheat and corn, it is nice to know what the various systems are doing across the country. My family is from the northeast and my wife's family is from Michigan, while I also have relatives and freinds in the south. Thanks for your hard work.
