  • Update on Tomas, and the rest of the weather!

Tropical Storm Tomas is about 300 miles southwest of Port Au Prince, Haiti with top winds at 45 mph and moving toward the north at 8 mph. The latest forecast track has Tomas as a hurricane tomorrow night after it passes west of Haiti and the southeast Bahamas. As a result, hurricane warnings are in effect for eastern Cuba, Haiti, the southeastern Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands which means hurricane conditions are possible across western Haiti for these regions. A tropical storm warning has been issued for Jamaica.

The big concern from Tomas is heavy rain across Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Some areas could get 5 to 10 inches of rain with 15 inches possible in the mountains. This will be a life-threatening scenario for Haiti and the regions devastated by earthquake.  Here’s the track as of 11am courtesy of www.wunderground.com:

Across the U.S, rain will be widespread across the Eastern Seaboard as a couple of systems combine and make for a messy Thursday!  Things should improve by Friday morning’s commute.

Some thunderstorms are possible along the southeast as a cold front pushes through.

Cooler air pushing in from Canada will bring rain and snow over the Great Lakes though this evening and gusty winds for a wide swath of the Midwest.

Another dry and warm day for the west – especially across Southern California with temperatures in the 90s once again today for Los Angeles through the Desert Southwest. Cooler weather is on its way tomorrow.

That’s it for weather – stay tuned though!  I did an interview with our newest Meteorologist Maria Molina the other day, and I will post that shortly!

    Have a great day everyone!
