  • Tornados and Blizzard warnings!

Hello everyone!  On the heels of the busiest travel day of the year, we are dealing with severe weather and blizzard warnings!   Certainly not fun for those who are planning to travel today and or tomorrow.

Severe weather tore through the Midwest yesterday with several reports (8) of tornadoes through Wisconsin and Illinois. There were several injuries and extensive damage reports from the apparent twisters.

The same storms that brought severe weather over the Midwest is now pushing across the interior Northeast back through South right now. We’re not expecting any organized severe weather, but there’s a chance of isolated strong thunderstorms as the front associated with this system moves east.

The West is getting pounded with extreme winter weather and cold arctic air.  Heavy snow will fall across the Sierra Nevada and all along the Rockies. Gusty winds will bring the threat of blizzard conditions and bitter cold wind chills. Half a dozen states are under blizzard warnings across the West.  I can’t remember the last time I saw this many states under blizzard warnings.

Bottom line is if you don’t have to travel in some of these areas I mentioned – DON’T!   Some of the roads in Idaho have already been shut completely until they can get the snowplows out there to clear things off.

Tomorrow the storm moves into the central U.S. which will make travel difficult for the Midwest back into the Plains.   Behind this storm, some of the coldest air of the season is on its way with bitterly cold wind chills that could be very dangerous.  Many cold “highs” will be set tomorrow over the West.

Wish I had better news!  If it were up to me, you know I would make sure everyone had sunshine and clear weather for Turkey Day travel!  Be safe everyone!

Hello,i wish everyone a safe trip to wherever they might be going. Ipray for those by the tornado warnings and home them and there family are safe and will stay that way. My family is now in the basement in my mother's office. We are wating out the storm and I would also like to wish everyone a happy turkey day! :D

Hey BG, gone are our days of 60 degree temperatures. It's only 40 now and it's not supposed to get higher than the 40's for the whole Thanksgiving weekend. We're supposed to get rain tomorrow, too. I hate when it rains when it's cold outside--brrrrrrrr! At least the weather is nice today for the trip to my parents' place. Have a Happy Thanksgiving, all! Margie

Hi everyone. It is 69 right now. I agree Margie it doesn't feel like November 23. Had to use the AC today. Hope all have a good evening and if traveling for Thanksgiving you have a safe trip. PJ

Hi everyone. I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday. We've had a little light rain today but nothing much. It's another mild day with a high of 62. We got up to 65 yesterday. It certainly doesn't feel like November 23rd! This weather is crazy but I won't complain because I'm saving on my heating bill. That's a great thing! I hope everyone has a great afternoon/evening!
