  • Huge winter storm blasts the Upper Midwest!

    Good morning everyone!

Well, folks across the Upper Midwest are still trying to recover from this weekend’s major snowstorm.   The Twin Cities saw the snowiest day on record for any day in December, and the 5th greatest snowstorm of all time dating back to the 1800s.  Here are some of the totals:

Did you catch the video of the roof collapse of the Metrodome in Minneapolis Sunday morning?  CRAZY!   Tonight’s game will be in Detroit with the Vikings and the Giants.

There was snow at Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport this morning as well as yesterday too!

And a look ahead to this coming weekend, some of the computer models are pointing at a big storm that could affect all of the big cities in the Northeast…so stay tuned!

What’s left of this weekend’s storm will continue to bring rain, strong winds, snow and the coldest air of the season for many states.

Lake effect snow will continue today through Wednesday, and the arctic blast will sink as far south as South Florida with overnight lows below freezing causing more concerns for crops.   Take a look at the overnight lows, and the advisories that are up for the Gulf Coast and Florida:

Meanwhile, heavy rain and mountain snow continues for the Northwest where flooding concerns have folks sandbagging in Portland and flood warnings are up through the day!

In annoying blog news, I know we are getting spammed to death.  I am deleting dozens of posts every day which is driving me nuts.  I have let the blog folks know — and we’ll see if there’s anything they can do.   I know it’s a pain in the you-know-what, but there are worse things to complain about in the world.  We just need to keep it in perspective. :)

    Talk to you soon!

We are expecting 5" of snow Thursday.

Margie, just checked out your greeting. It is great! Nothing describes "Christmas" better than Luke 2. How odd that as I was watching your video, I saw 2 ornaments that hang on my tree each year. One is the royal blue one that has The Nativity Scene on it. The other is the crystal one that has Jesus, Mary and Joseph on it. I thought I was looking at my own tree there for a minute. Beautifully done video! Your talents amaze me. Thanks for the reminder of what this season is about. Gwen

Hey Gwen, I read your post the other day about the dance recital so it was there at one point. This blog has been a little wacky lately so it's hard to tell. I remember a few months ago Janice posted something & it disappeared so you never know when the little gremlins will come out. Hey BG, I double-checked the link to my Christmas greeting & everything worked for me. If someone else can check it & let me know if you have problems, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Margie

...She did remember to do her turn at the end of the song and her little bow at the end was too cute! We all applauded and cheered them both. Such sweet babies! OK. Enough from the proud mamaw talking about her little cuties. Margie, can't wait to check out your greeting. Hope all of you stay warm. The winds have calmed here a bit, but the temp is still 36. One more Christmas party tonight after 2 on Saturday and a Christmas church program last night. Y'all have a great day! TTFN! :)

Hi guys. I had posted on the previous thread but wanted to check back in on the newer one. For those who asked, the dance recital was FANTASTIC! My babies were, of course, the stars of the show. I thought I had posted something about it on Friday, but don't see it anywhere. I guess the gremlins got it. Little Katie hit all her marks...the little pro. Alli was absolutely adorable! She did the shuffle step with her right foot the entire song. She was supposed to be alternating feet...

I ran out of room on my last post to include this. I did a special Christmas video greeting for all of you on my web site. I wanted to share a special Christmas message with all of you so I got creative! I bought a royalty-free Christmas song & made a video. I put it on my web site so if you want to see it, here's the link: (this link should work) I hope you all enjoy it! Thanks for being a great bunch of friends! Margie

Hi all, we have a wind chill advisory today. The temp. has been dropping like a rock since midnight. It's around 22 with a wind chill around 8 the last I looked--brrrr. Janice, you're right about the spam on the blog. It's a pain in the neck but there are worse things in life--like not having a job. I have something else to say but I'll have to put it in a separate post since I don't have enough room here. Have a great day, all! Margie

Good morning JD and all our "regular"bloggers hope you all keep warm when you are having such terrible low temps and snow, I truly don't know after all these years in CA how I could deal with 28's. JD, I am with JB and saw you this morning and you looked fantastic, I believe you get younger looking with each baby.. As for as the Irregular bloggers, I feel we should complain its just another story of the good guys having to "cope"with the bad guys and to them MERRY CHRISTMAS. aj
