  • Another Big Storm for next week?

    Hi everyone!

Here comes the weekend!  Yippeeeee!  It’s going to be ch-ch-ch-chilly for much of the country, and we’re watching another potential blockbuster storm early next week – bringing snow and ice to the south, and yet another big coastal storm for the Northeast.   Ugh.

It was a tough commute in this morning – but the latest storm across the Northeast is on the way out.  We’re still in for additional heavy snow for parts of New England, and lake effect snow continues through the weekend.

We’ve got some big football games happening this Sunday.  Luckily, no major storms for Chicago or Pittsburgh, but for those headed to the games – BUNDLE UP!  :)   Temperatures are dangerously cold over the Plains and the Midwest with windchills below zero:

A little wet for Florida today, otherwise a quiet Friday for the South.  As mentioned, a new system brewing this weekend will bring potentially snow and ice to the South early next week.

It’s more rain and mountain snow for the Northwest, while in the Southwest Santa Ana winds will be fairly calm today, but return over the weekend.  I saw a wind gust yesterday of 74 mph!

Ok, that’s all for now.  I’m off this Monday for Matthew’s second birthday – hopefully back Tuesday to cover the next storm if Matthew’s little brother stays put!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

It's not bad here. We have 44 right now. Tomorrow we expect heavy rain and some snow and I have to go to Baltimore where they are expecting the same. Another long day tomorrow. Leaving at 5:00 am and should be back by 8:30 to 9:00 pm.

Hey folks, I hope everyone's day is off to a good start. It's cloudy & dreary looking in Cumberland. There's a little snow in our forecast for tomorrow but it doesn't sound too bad. Hey Janice, I hope little Matthew enjoyed his 2nd birthday party. I hope everyone had a great time! We're all anxiously awaiting the arrival of your new little guy--praying all goes smoothly with that. Don, I loved your post about the Bible! Have a great day, all! Margie

Thinking about Matthew being two already reminds me...A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, "I know what the Bible means!" "Okay," said his father. "What does the Bible mean?" "That's easy, Daddy...." the young boy replied excitedly," It stands for 'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.'"

Evening guys! Thought I'd pipe in one more time. We get an "American Profile" magazine insert in our local paper. It tells all the happenings in and around the Southeast. I see that Blowing Rock is having its Winterfest Celebration this weekend, Joni. carving, chili cookoff, and a polar plunge. Sounds like fun, but count me out of that polar plunge thingy. I'll bet Blowing Rock has snow for its Winterfest. Y'all have fun! :)

Hi Janice I'm a high school sophomore interested in becoming a meteorologist on TV like you. Can you tell me what skills are required to do what you do. All the research I've done says that knowledge of physics and calculus is needed. Is that true? I was hoping that you might be able to give some insight. Thanks!

Margie, I too will be saying "GO STEELERS". I am a Pats fan first, but when I was in a Pittsburgh hospital back in '73, I met the then powerhouse Steelers (including Steel Curtin, &Bradshaw) Always had a soft spot for that franchize since then. Always. A sick kid never forgets a kindness when they arent feeling well.

Hey folks. I'm glad I won't be alone in cheering for the Steelers during the Super Bowl! It should be a good game. Gwen, I hope it doesn't get too ugly in your house with you & your husband cheering for different teams! We're having a heat wave here at my parents' place. After a low of 4 it's all the way up to 20--big deal! The sun is shining with only a slight breeze so hopefully it won't be too cold when we go out to lunch today. It's Applebee's today since I got a gift card for Christmas. MG

Mornin' all. Never got a chance to check in this weekend, but Margie I was with you all the way on the Steelers yesterday. I was actually hoping they would play the Bears, cause I like Lovie Smith, but GB outplayed them. Now hubby is going for GB and me for Steelers. Finally got our HD satellite upgrade, so now I'm watching in high def. Very nice!!! Happy BD to Matthew. Can't believe he growing up so fast. Warmer here today...rain moving in..then cold returns. Catch y'all later! :)

Not sure why people sit around to watch persons who make millions play catch and tag with each other; seems a little boring. Personally, I rather go to the gym or go out for a 5 mile jog than sit in front of the boob tube watching the above noted entry!
