    Travel Troubles for Thanksgiving

    Hi everyone!

    Well, it’s a short workweek for many as folks prepare to hit the roads and the skies for Thanksgiving.  Unfortunately, we are expecting some pretty bad weather to affect millions of people over the next few days. 

    Let’s start off with today…

    Showers and thunderstorms will set up along a frontal boundary stretched across the Mid-Atlantic, back through the Ohio Valley and into the Southern Plains. Heavy rain and the possibility for strong to severe storms will set up along the front.  We’ll start to see storms pop up across Central and Northern Texas into parts of Oklahoma:

    Tomorrow’s risk will affect parts of the Central and Western Gulf Coast states into the Southern Appalachians and Ohio Valley.

    We’ll also see heavy rain and potential flooding along this system’s path.  Some areas could see up to 4 inches over the next several days.

    Ahead of the front, above average temperatures will help to fuel the storms over the next few days while behind the boundary, much cooler air pushed in.

    The west will be unsettled for much of the week – starting across the Northwest and spreading as far south as Southern California by Thanksgiving.

    Here’s a look at travel day Wednesday:

    Thanksgiving Day itself should be pretty quiet for most with exception to the West as another storm moves in.

    We’ll keep fine-tuning the forecast and bring you the very latest over the next few days!

    What are you guys up to for Thanksgiving?  I think we’re going to hit the roads on Thursday morning to visit family.   My whole family is recovering from a major cold/flu that kept us inside most of the weekend!  I’m hoping we’ll feel a little better by Thursday!

Good morning! Had the first storm last night here on the WA coast, more to come. Wind 30-40mph with gusts to 60 accompanied by 3" of rain. Checked the river and it is up in the peoples yard across the river but it is also high tide so it won't stay long. Gearing up for Thanksgiving with all the family here. Next week I go in to have the blood vessels in my legs roto rooted out. Hope it works!! All of you have a nice day.

Before you all hit the road thought I would get my Happy Thanksgiving in to all our dear bloggers and our fearless leader JD and her boys, I wish for everyone happy day however you will spend it and I pray for safe travels for those of you on the road..Margie, will keep your dear Mom in my prayers for a full recovery, I know you will be "thankful"to have her home Wednesday and Gwen, it will be a good tired at the end of your day each day with the kiddies, I am thankful to blog with you all.AJ

Hi all: Busy week-end, but finally took some time to visit the bloggers of JD. We're planning to travel only one half hour to a granddaughter's and her family for a wonderful time on Thanksgiving. Hope you all have a great time with family. And J.D., blessings on you and your little family. Trust you are feeling better so you can enjoy your time off as well. By the way, our weather for Thanksgiving is suppose to be sunny, clear and 60 degrees!!! Audrey

Hey everyone. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving week. Hey Gwen, I hope you survive the grandkids! NYC is a fun place to visit & the Macy's parade is great. I hope Melanie has fun! My mom will be home for Thanksgiving so that will be nice. She had a heart attack a couple weeks ago & spent some time in the hospital. She's at the nursing home now getting physical therapy but she'll be going home on Wednesday. I'm glad she'll be home for the holiday. Have a great day, all. Margie

Morning all! Been MIA for a few days...keeping grandkids while their mother is in NYC for Macy's Parade with her dancers. Lots of work for us, but love to have my little ones around. How fantastically weird to get pictures from Statue of Liberty yesterday as Melanie toured the Big Apple. Used to be a week after vacation before you could show your pictures. Now you can send them in real time to friends & family. How marvelous! Catch y'all later! Gwen :)
