It's almost 6 PM Pacific Standard Time here in Los Angeles, the beginning of New Years Eve. I'm spending a quiet evening with friends in my apartment building. I wanted to take this minute to wish Janice Dean, her family, and all of you Weather Machiners all the best for 2012!

Thanks for the update on Don's son, Margie. I want to wish all the friends in here a very Happy New Year and hope that 2012 is a very healthy and prosperous year. I hope that all those in here who have had health problems and with family members can take some solace and peace knowing that we are all praying and keeping good thoughts for them. Again, Happy New Year and if you are going out to celebrate, PLEASE be careful. JB

Hey folks, I just talked to Don on the phone. His son has Hodgkin's disease & he's getting chemo. Obviously, it's not good getting any kind of cancer, but Hodgkin's disease is a lot easier to treat than non-Hodgkin's lymphoma so that's a good thing. They caught it early so it will be easier to treat. At least his son got an accurate diagnosis quickly so the prognosis is good. As far as the weather goes here, it's cloudy. Highs for Tues will only be in the 20's--brr! Have a great day, all! Margie

Happy New Year to all bloggers and J.D. and Family: Hope you are enjoying the holiday season. It is beginning to wind down. Weather today is sunny and 40 plus degrees. Stilll no snow to speak of. Hope that continues until the first part of March, and then we can look for Spring! :) Stay healthy all of you and enjoy your loved ones and friends these days. My only New Year's resolution is to not make a resolution. How about that? Audrey

Hi everyone. It's been a cold, windy day here in Cumberland. We only got up to about 39 degrees with 30+ mph wind gusts. It's too bad the wind can't blow all the spam off the blog. It's hard to believe the year is almost over. Where did the time go??? I only have a few more days off work & then it's time to start back up next week. It's been nice having the time off. I hope everyone has a great evening/night. Margie

I'm glad you're taking some time off this Holiday Season, Janice! You deserve it! BTW, I love the Brio wooden trains in the photo you posted. They are so much fun and offer countless hours of enjoyment! Hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year!
Gwen
Hi guys! I'm back from 4 very busy days off. It was a lovely Christmas on Walton's Mountain. I do hope yours was as well. Cold and cloudy here today after 2 days of rain. We got quite a soaking. Y'all have a great day! Gwen :)

Janice, did you see Dana Perino's funny tweet? She was wondering if a meterologist job to to find why parking meters only work one out of ten times.

I hope all of our bloggers had a very nice Merry Christmas. Now for a Happy New Year.

A nice Christmas gift would be no stupid spammers but I guess that's too much to ask for. I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas. This is a season of hope, no matter what circumstances you may be facing. Blessings to all my blogging family and those wonderful men and women serving our Country. Margie

Hey everyone. I just got done making a bunch of Christmas cookies & I'm tired. I know the calendar says that Christmas is coming but no one told the weather. Although, I won't complain because we don't have to worry about snow during holiday travel. It only got up to 49 today. It was 59 yesterday & about the same the day before. We've had a couple days in the 60's recently so it doesn't feel like December. I want to wish every a safe and merry Christmas. Have a great weekend, everyone! Margie
