    Meet Anna Kooiman!

    Good morning everyone!

    As I mentioned, I have a new office-mate.  Her name is Anna Kooiman, and comes to us from North Carolina!  (She was at Fox Charlotte).  

    If you’ve seen her on air, you know that she’s a beauty, but she’s also a really really nice person (which is a relief since we’re in the same room for much of the day!)    As promised, here’s a few questions and answers she kindly submitted for you all to read.  If you have anything you’d like to ask Anna, feel free to post them here…

    A few of you have asked if her name is Dutch, so I asked her this morning.  She was pleasantly surprised and said “Yes!  How observant of your bloggers!”  :)  

    I know you will all warmly welcome our latest addition to the FNC Family!

    Where were you born?

    The Queen City… AKA… Charlotte, NC

    First job?

    First job ever? Lee’s Ice Cream Parlor…. At 14 and a half… Mama and Daddy Kooiman said it was time to make my own money! First TV Job… During my last semester of college I became a one man band reporter at ABC in Wilmington, NC. I would schlep around my own camera, microphones, batteries, cables, tapes, etc… I would set up the camera on a tripod… and report in front of it! LOL I’m sure I looked silly in my suit and high heels… melting in the southern heat and humidity.

    Where did u go to school?

    University of North Carolina at Wilmington

    Hobbies?

    I am definitely a NEWS NERD. I’m enjoying working for FOX during an election year. Politics can be more entertaining to watch than professional sports or reality television! My other passion is fitness. I like to compete in triathlons and marathons. I ran distance on the track team at UNCW. And I was an exercise instructor in Charlotte. My favorite class is Turbo Kick. It’s a mix of kick boxing, hip hop dancing, and athletic drills all rolled into one… choreographed to the hottest… heart pumping hits on the radio. I also taught classes to kids at an inter-city after school program.

    Favorite books/movies?

    Hands down favorite book… Rick Warren’s, The Purpose Driven Life. I have read it 4 or 5 times!

    How do u like living in NYC?

    New York is FUN! I’m trying to drink up the city as fast as I can… from Broadway to The Giants, to The Knicks, to Central Park, and of course the food! I had a few friends living in the city already… and I’ve been hanging out with new friends (that mutual friends have set me up with). I certainly miss my family, church, and amazing girlfriends in North Carolina though.

    What has been the biggest adjustment?

    The biggest adjustment for me has been trying to run errands all over Manhattan without a car… BUT I have a 100 pound yellow lab, Baxter who moved with me to the city. The noise was a little hard on him at first… but he’s doing pretty well now. I have hired a dog-walker who Baxter absolutely loves… and not just because of the treats she gives him. ;-) This lovely lady gives Cesar Milan a run for his money and calls herself the ‘Mother Theresa of Dogs.’ Baxter still barks at the horses pulling carriages through Central Park every once in a while… but he loves being able to go there to escape from the concrete! Here’s a question for someone who has spent harsh winters in NYC…. The dog-walker tells me I need to get my ‘Baxter Bear’ a coat and booties for the winter… Do big dogs wear them too? Or will Baxter look like a sissy???

    What’s your idea of a great vacation?

    An ideal vacation… hmmmm… sunshine, smiles, good food, dancing, and culture… and if there’s time… some relaxing… so a ‘vacation from the vacation’ isn’t necessary!

    Favorite weather/time of year?

    My TV career took me to Ohio for a couple of years… it was nice to REALLY experience the different seasons there. I like them all for different reasons… The turning of the leaves in Fall, the crisp air and clear skies in Winter, the green grass and cherry trees in Spring… and the tan lines and sand between the toes during Summer! But if I had to pick just one… SUMMER… everyone seems to be in a better mood right?… Positive energy is contagious!

Hey all and welcome Anna.... you are fortunate to share the office with JD the Weather Machine! She is the BEST!!! Blowing Rock is snowy and cold this morning. The ski areas are jumping up and down! And I must say it is beautiful!! Welcome aboard to Fox! Good move!!

Hi Anna! So glad to see you're loving NYC, but we really do miss you. Christine Noel is doing just great, but she doesn't throw in any, "Hey there Morning Glory!" greetings! (There's one for you to "live down" at FNC! :) My hubby & I are big fans of Fox News Rising and Fox News Channel! Janice, you & all the rest of the FNC team are awesome. Thank you for what & how you deliver. Anna, as long as you moved, we're glad it was to our other favorite channel!

Hey Anna, your dog will be fine in NY with out the coat and boots. i used to live in NJ and i too had a 90lb Lab named Samson and he loved the snow, we never got coat, sweaters or any of that stuff for him.

We do miss Anna!! I'm an adoption recruiter and spent a lot of time with Anna on her Fox show talking about the importance of permanency for Children in the foster care system!! My favorite thing about Anna is, she simply cares! Miss you friend!

Hi and WELCOME to Anna. She surely is a pretty girl. Hubby would be impressed that she if from the home of NASCAR...but I just like NC in general. Cold and windy here in MySouth today. We went from sun to solid cloudy and now back to sun, but the wind has been really gusty and the temps have been in the mid 40s. Looking for low 20s tonight. YIKES! Margie: I am with you and of course Anna saying that one of the greatest books to read is Rick Warren's "The Purpose Driven Life". Now that we all have a "plug" in for the book, maybe others will read it as well. Great reading. And by the way, winter is here. It's been snowing all day and doesn't seem to want to stop. Welcome to Anna and your beautiful dog,Baxter.I love labs.My daughter has 4 dogs and one is a black lab and he is a sweetie,and about 90 lbs.Oklahoma has a cold spell for a couple od days.30 out right now,and sunny and windy.Love winter,hate summer.Hope everyone is having a good day,and hope Anna has a long and successful working experience at Fox.Dolores

Welcome Anna!!!! You and JD will get along great!! I am not a fan of boots and coats for dogs. That will be up to you and Baxter Bear, if he lets ya!!! I have a question for ya Anna. What is your favorite thing to eat in NY ? I moved from there to TX and I miss the Pizza and Bagels. That are not the same in Dallas. So My family sends me a dozen bagels at Christmas, and My husband makes the pizza. It is 35 in TX and windy. Hope all are well and warm. PJ

Janice Dean, I know my post maybe repeat but as we've not had a winter, it gets irritating to hear forecasters complain when we get snow. I don't have Fox nor Cable anymore. But why don't you appreaciate change of seasons & why can't you write about fun things in snow instead of the same complaints? I hate hot weather. Sure spring & fall are optimal weather times but I like snow & from Nov. to early April, I like getting snow. Please share thoughts thanks.

Welcome Anna, you would have done my Dutchman proud, he would have been your biggest fan along with me and you are such a lucky girl and blessed to have "our" JD for your roomy..FYI..my 82 pound grand dog Sammy wears boots in So. Cal, and he stops traffic! I agree with you on Rick Warren's book, you are a huge plus to the Fox Team and enjoy your moments in time there.. hope all our bloggers are doing ok AJ

Welcome aboard but there's 1 thing you generalized on. YOu generealize that every1 is in a better mood in summer-well I hate hot summer weather. I like when it's 50-74Degrees Fahrenheit, but I love coldweather, snowfall & frozen lakes. Janice Dean, I'd like to know your thoughts on why most forecasters don't appreicate change of seasons such as complaining when it's cold & snow. Why don't you appreciate change of seasons because hearing complaints about cold is dull.
