  • Happy Friday!

    Good morning everyone!

Wow.  The week is over.  It went by pretty quickly, didn’t it?

The first day of June, and while most folks are thinking about their upcoming summer vacation, we’re preparing for hurricane season which officially starts today and lasts until December 1st.  The peak of the season is around August, September and October when we typically see the busiest activity.

We’ve already had two named storms, but the National Hurricane Center is forecasting a pretty “average” year:

As I like to remind folks – it takes just one bad hurricane to make it a busy year…so if you live across the Coasts, please start thinking about what you would do if and when a hurricane threatens your area.

Taking a look outside, showers and thunderstorms will push across the eastern third of the country today with the risk with some stronger storms likely for parts of the Ohio Valley, the Central Appalachians, Carolinas through the Midatlatic . The main risk will be large hail and damaging winds.

Cooler than average temperatures for the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes while much of the west will bake with warmer than normal highs.  Some cities could break records and excessive heat warnings are up for the desert southwest.

And if you think it’s hot where you are, Michael P. Cain sent me this picture from Helmand Province, Afghanistan!  It was 114 degrees in the shade!    We should not be complaining!

You can “tweet” me your pictures @janicedeanfox anytime!  Love to hear from you!!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

I don't know what the big deal is of the queen being on the throne for 60 years. Heck, I've been on the throne twice already today.

Don, I'm glad you made it through the storms ok. We just missed the bad ones. They intensified just east of Cumberland. We got about 2 claps of thunder & a little wind. We did, however, get almost 3/4" of rain in a 15 minute period. I'm glad I was home for that! I was supposed to drive to my parents' place Friday but I waited until yesterday. Hey to everyone else out there. I hope everyone is safe & sound wherever you are. Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Margie

Afternoon all. Hope you guys in VA and MD are okay. I'm seeing some severe weather up in your area. It's been a lovely day here...cooler and less humid. Gotta love those days when we get them. Loving my new 4Runner. I had driven the Highlander for 7 years, and it had dependably carried us from Daytona Beach to the Grand Canyon. Never had a problem with it, so another Toyota was a no-brainer. Roxie and Sadie are doing great. They've grown so much in 1 week! Y'all take care! Gwen :)

Hey Gwen! I like your thought for the day. Congratulations on your new car! My family has been a Toyota family for decades. I'm driving a Corolla now and I'll get my dad's Camry when he gives up driving, which should be soon. He doesn't do any long trips anymore but he shouldn't be doing too many short ones either. We'll see. We have some severe weather moving into the area this afternoon. My dad called & told me not to come visit this evening. I better take my flag in when I go home! Margie

Hi, guys! Cooler today following t-storms last night. Rain was nice...much appreciated. Never do get why weather forecasters dislike rain (i.e., "nice and dry", "beautiful day...no rain in sight") Personally, I like rain. Not wild about lightning & wind, but I guess sometimes ya gotta just take the bad with the good. Will be picking up my new auto this afternoon. Finally decided on a Toyota 4 Runner. Love that new car smell! Thought for the day: Lighten up! Life's short! Gwen :)

Hey, AJ. I did make it to work today, although I don't feel the greatest. At least I feel better than I did yesterday. Hey to all the other regular bloggers. It seems like we got rid of the spam only to pick up a complainer. You can't please everyone I guess. I hope everyone is safe and sound wherever you are. We have rain now with a chance of nasty storms this afternoon. I hope I don't get caught in any later. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Margie
