  • Happy First Day of Summer!

    Hello everyone!

It’s officially summertime, and we are feeling it across much of the country!

Here in the Northeast, we’re expecting heat indices in the 100 degree + range!    The good news is this is going to be a short-lived heat wave…(or bad news if you LIKE the heat!)  For now 13 states are currently under heat advisories:

And we’re not the only ones baking here.   It’s a very hot afternoon from the Desert Southwest (110 degree highs!) all the way to the East Coast.   90s will stretch from Texas to the Great Lakes and even into northern New England.

Hot and dry weather will continue to make for extreme firefighting conditions in the West.  90+ degree temps will continue in Colorado through the weekend as high pressure builds over the area.

And we are watching a tropical disturbance in the northwestern Caribbean that will bring heavy rain across Cuba, the Bahamas and South Florida over the next several days.  Localized areas in South Florida and the Keys may receive over 3-6” of rain.  And as our buddy Don noticed last night, Tropical Storm Chris formed yesterday evening in the North Atlantic.  Chris is a fish storm, and won’t affect anybody in the near future.

Meanwhile, a cool front moving through the Midwest may spark a few isolated stronger storms.  Hail and strong winds are the main concerns.

Let me know how you’re dealing with the heat, and you can always send me pics on twitter.  I’m @janicedeanfox

    Talk to y’all

Evening, all! Don, we're just changing our pool from a chlorine system to a salt system. Haven't quite got it where we can swim yet, but hope we'll be able to in about another week. It's taking awhile to get everything balanced. Margie, maybe you could take a dip in the fountain when no one is looking. Sometimes when it's too warm, I'll slip off my shoes and put my bare feet on our tile floors. That seems to help a little. Or maybe a small, personal fan. Catch y'all later! Gwen :)

Bears hibernate in the winter, me in the summer. My daughter is having a salt water pool going in on her farm She doesn't understand why I'm not going to be interested. Janice, I subscribed to the Atlantic Storm Warnings from NOOA about 10 or 12 years ago when I had a boat in NJ and use to go out many days a week in the Atlantic.

Hey Janice! We're at 91 with a heat index of 97. There are a couple pretty fountains out in front of the library here at the college that look really inviting on days like today. Somehow I don't think it would go over too well if I take a dip in one of the fountains! I've been having trouble dealing with the heat lately because the tamoxifen I'm taking is causing some hot flashes and add the real heat on top of that & I'm a mess! I'm doing ok so I'll survive. Have a great day, everyone! Margie
