    Debby continues to bring record breaking rain...and Chuck Leavell likes weather!

    Hi everyone!

    We’ve had some pretty crazy weather across the U.S. over the last few days – and looks like the wackiness continues!

    Tropical storm Debby is  a weak tropical storm slowly moving east.   Rainfall accumulations of 8-12” have fallen across North Florida,  resulting in widespread flash flooding.  Another 10-12” of rain could still happen in the next 48 hours.

    Here’s a look at some of the flooding south of Tampa courtesy of Andy Johnson from our Fox affiliate:

    Landfall is anticipated west  of Gainesville  on Wednesday.   Debby will then weaken to possibly a tropical depression over Florida, before re-emerging in the Western Atlantic Ocean and moving Northeastward. While over open water, it could regain tropical storm status, but isn’t expected to affect any more land.

    The record heat is on across  Colorado and the Plains.  Denver should top 100 degrees today for the 5th day in a row today.  Temperatures are going to be in the mid 90s by the end of the week – so not much relief unfortunately!  Heat advisories extend from Texas and Louisiana to North Dakota.  This prolonged heatwave and dry weather continues to hinder firefighters battling several large blazes across the West.

    And in other weather news, I did an interview with one of the most talented musicians on the planet a few months ago – Chuck Leavell (you may know him as pianist, keyboardist for bands like the Allman Brothers, the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton)  What you may not know is he is a big environmentalist, and one of the founders of  The Mother Nature Network, an environmental news and information website.  He and partner Joel Babbit launched the immensly popular website in 2009.  He and Joel have also come up with an ingenious new idea about “weather icons”  Take a look:

Hey there bloggerd.Sad day for the US today,Thank you Justice Roberts. Another hot day in OK.103 today.I just got back from having dinner with 5 grand-children,and two greats.We had dinner at this place called Ghangis Kahn.You fill up a bowl with whatever food you want and they stir fry it and bring it to your table.It was differant and fun.And it was good.Hope all are well and safe and cool.Dolores

Good evening bloggers, hope you are had a good cool day wherever you were, we up the freeway to san Clemente to visit friends and had a wonderful fun filled chatting day with the "girls"..Margie hope you are feeling better today and that your days become easier and less problems as treatment number trickles down, feel so sad for all those folks that planned their retirement enjoying the Colorado mountains and lost their dream homes, so sad, JD hope you and family enjoying summertime. Hi, guys! Right, Margie, it does seem really quiet in here. I've been busy with payroll duties and "issues" at work for the past couple of days. Some days, coming to work is less fun than others...but (thank you, Lord) I do have a job to come to. MySouth is supposed to be in the 100+ range for the next few days. Yuck! Wish we could have lassoed Debby and pulled her out to CO and NM to help with the fires. Oh well...we can't! Y'all have a good day! TTFN! Gwen :)

Where is everybody? It's like a ghost town on this blog. I thought I'd say hello in case anyone is out there. I'm going in to work a little later than normal today. Wednesdays I usually work 1-9 but I'm going in a couple hours later. I've been having issues with my blood pressure on top of everything else going on so I'm trying to rest a little and hopefully feel better. It's always something! Have a great afternoon, everyone! Janice, that's a lot of rain in Florida! It must be water, water everywhere! We have an absolutely lovely day today--a beautiful sunny 78 with a dew point of 46--perfect! Two days from now it will be 95 but I won't think about that. I'll just enjoy this day! Hey to everyone else out there. I hope everyone is having a great day.
