Oh brother. I was enjoying the spam-free period on the blog but now it's back--ugh! I hope it's not idicative of things to come.

Hi, Everyone. I hope you all are dealing with the heat ok. I haven't felt the greatest in this heat because the tamoxifen makes me hot to begin with & the heat just makes things worse. At least I have power. My power was only out for 8 hrs after the storm. There are still places around that don't have power so I feel very fortunate. We just missed more storms Sun. night. They went just south of here. I'm taking Thurs. & Fri. off to rest so I'll have a nice little vacation. Take care, all. Margie

DERECHO is a new word for me. Never heard storms called that before. By next week I will forget how to spell it.
DoninRichmond
There are still 22,231 here in Richmond witout power. Amazing what all the supermarkets had to dispose of and the resturants. Besides all the deaths from the storm, it's reported today 6 died here in Richmond from the heat. That's horrible.

Hi, guys! Lots of nasty weather going on. Eastern storms remind me of post-Katrina days. We were without power for a week in sweltering heat. Fortunately we did have a small generator, but that only helped some. Most of the time we kept it hooked up to the refrigerator & freezer. Water, ice & gas were scarce. Kiowa Electric of Tipton, IA turned our power back on 7 days later. I wished I could have done something nice for them. I said "Thank you". It was from the bottom of my heart! :)

Good afternoon everyone. Not much to talk about. Hot and dry here SM. But just to let Margie and Don and all those that have been affected by this terrible weather, you are all in my prayers, hoping everything will get back to normal soon. Margie, hope your treatments are going well. May everyone have a healthy, safe and blessed Fourth of July.BG.

Janice, your answer makes sense thinking about Az. However, NYC 100 and cross the river to Hoboken or Elizabeth, NJ and it's 105

Hi,to all.Not as warm today. The people in the East are in bad shape. Hope things get better, for both them and in Colorado.Strange weather happening all over the country.Wonder how many people have electric cars in the DC area. Not much good to them now. They will have to use gas,if the car was charged up before the strorm to get to the gas station.Of course I probably have it all wrong on the electric car. Everyone stay safe and have a good 4th!!!!!!Dolores

Janice, Do you have a clue as to why the definition for Heat Advisory is different for New York City? 100 vs 105 heat index for 3 hours for the rest of the country?

Last October 31st when my area got nailed by 20" of SNOW, everyone was joking and being sarcastic about how it was "global warming outside". I dont know about what scientists are or are not saying about global warming or climate change these days, but I havent heard any jokes of recent about "it's global warming" outside. I can say working on the farm, our records show unusal weather patterns for several years. Extremes even. (shrugs)

They are reporting 2.5 million without power in Va. Went for a little ride this morning. Roads closed, I did see a telephone pole across a street and trees on others. 6 of the 9 traffic lights I went through were out. There were a couple tornados on the ground last night on the outskirts of Richmond.
DoninRichmond
Tornado on ground in three counties in the area

There are still 551,000 witout power in Va

Don and Margie thanks for checking in was worried about you and glad you both survived with just losing the power and no worse and today's storms don't harm you, still worried about Marie in Howard Ohio, my goodness so many folks that lost power..hope it cools down for you back there soon..JD thanks soooo much for the great pics of you and Fox family, you know all of us, we love those pictures, you all are so photogenic, have a great weekend folks AJ

Hey folks, I'm enjoying my air conditioning! I'm so thankful I was only without power for 8 hours. There's a community just over the mountain to the west that is still without power. Apparently, a transformer was hit by lightning & put on a pretty spectacular light show. The art gallery where I'm exhibiting had a grand opening celebration today & fortunately there was power there. I heard there was a suspected tornado near the college where I work--lots of downed trees. Take care, all. Margie

I'm one of the very few lucky ones who didn't lose power. At 2:58 am I did lose internet and TV. Comcast was down. Just came back on. Couldn't get to the dog park this morning. Many, many roads closed to downed trees and wires. Cell towers were down for a few hours also. Last night was the first time in my life my dog and I spent an hour in the bathroom. 100 mph winds are real scary. Rumor has it 12 killed in Virginia last night

Hi all hope are safe from the crazy weather!!! Margie and Don please check in . Hope all are having a great day. Sunny and 89 in Dallas going up to 98 so they say. Ha ha PJ

Hey folks, here's a bit of news from my area: "More than 80,000 homes throughout the four-state area lost power during a wave of severe thunderstorms Friday night, according to Potomac Edison. The worst outages were in Allegany County with more than 23,000 outages" I was one of those 23,000 without power. It just came back on about 45 minutes ago after being off for 8 hours. At least the temperature dropped to 75 during the storm. I "slept" on my sofa since there's more ventilation down there.
