    Hi everyone!

Back from a long weekend with family and friends.  My last one of the summer…and we had a wonderful time.  Thankfully the weather wasn’t as dire as some of the forecast models predicted, and we were able to get outside much of the weekend.

In weather news, the drought continues to worsen across the driest areas of the country, and unfortunately in the short term, we’re not looking at a lot of rain in their forecast.  However, a dip in the jetstream will usher in some cooler air, and we will get a little moisture over hard hit regions.

How cool?  Take a look at Chicago’s high today:  69 degrees!

That’s pretty impressive considering we’ve been dealing with record setting heat over the heartland this summer.

The South and West are feeling warmer than normal temperatures today while the rest of the country is at or slightly below average…

The tropics this week are strangely quiet.  We typically start to really see things ramp up in the next few weeks – but conditions are not very favorable for the development of storms out in the Atlantic.  That should change in the next few weeks as we get into peak season.

That’s all for now.    Time for lunch.  I over-did it this weekend in the food intake department.    Too many muffins, cookies, bread and wine!    Ahh but what would vacations be like without all of the good stuff, right?  :)

Have a great day everyone!  Happy Monday!

Good grief, you just can't get rid of the annoying people on this blog. Some people just don't get it. Hey to all the regular bloggers out there. I hope the weather cools down for those still dealing with the heat. The weather here has been cooler (as in the mid 80's) the past few days. We had some rain today & now it's really muggy. There was a little thunder & lightning, too. I wish all the regular bloggers a good evening! Margie

Good Morning my dear blogger family. PJ, Haven't heard from you latley. Hope you are not one of the 50,000 plus that are withour power in the Dallas area. Hope and pray that everyone else is ok. No power means no A/C. That is hard to do without in Texas. Margie, I have not been in a theater since Jaws 1. I prefer to stay home and watch news, weather, sports, and Fox News. Hot and dry as usual here in good old SMT. Good day to all.BG.

Mornin', guys! AJ, I hate to admit it, but the last movie I went to the movie theater to see was Titanic. We just get the the dvds when they come out. I've got a stack of dvds right now that I need to watch but can't seem to find the time. My all-time favorite movie is still Braveheart...even though some people tell me it's bloody and they can't see why I like it. We had more rain overnight (about 1/2 inch) and only 89 high temp yesterday. Y'all have a wonderful Tuesday! Gwen :)

Hey,A.J.The rating for Hope Springs was not good.It said two people with that much talent was wasted on this movie, but each to his own opinion.I haven't seen it,and will probably not, because I just don't go to movies much. The last movie I saw was The Sherlock Holmes movie at Christmas. That was a great movie.Temps here 100 today. We are supposed to get much cooler weather and maybe some rain at the end of the week.We can only hope.Take care and be safe,Dolores
