    Where are you going, Isaac?

    GRRRRR!   This storm is frustrating.  We still don’t have a solid handle on where Isaac is going after the end of the weekend.  One thing is for sure, this storm is headed for the Gulf.  But the timing, intensity and landfall are all uncertain.  As for Tampa, this is still a threat for them.  Do not take your guard down.

    Here’s what we do know:

    Isaac is poorly organized, but is forecast to strengthen before making landfall over Hispaniola and then Eastern Cuba over the weekend.  This is a very large storm, so the effects of Isaac will be felt hundreds of miles out from the center of the storm. 

    Heavy rain and wind will lash the southwest coast of Haiti which could be devastating for the hundreds of thousands of people in shelters after the earthquake in Port au Prince a few years back.  

    Hearts and prayers go out to all those who don’t have a place to go while this storm bears down on them.

    Meanwhile South Florida and the west coast of Florida need to be alert of the storms progress while the rest of the Gulf Coast also needs to monitor the progress of Isaac as there is a chance of a hurricane landfall later during the workweek.

I had a Rolex once, but it was a fake. When my house was broken into and ransacked once, only that watch, $2, and an alcoholic beverage were missing. The joke was on that/those pinhead(s). This evening in Berlin it's 65 Fahrenheit, having cooled from the low 70s. Good stuff.

Hey Don, parts of Eastern MD got a ton of rain, too. Areas near where the possible tornado hit in PA got an inch and a half or more and where I live got an inch. We need the rain so it was a welcome event. The severe part we could have done without. I hope you don't get much more rain so Rolex can get back to a normal routine--she's so funny! Margie

Was just of Fox Radio, Emporia, Va which is 66 miles south of me received 10" of rain Saturday, We had 3" here

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. I pray that those in Isaac's path will be safe and PLEASE heed all warnings. I have known many from Canada and in their dialect, many times the g is not pronounced in words like strengthen. Much like an Englishman not saying the h in hotel or honey. To compare that to ebonics is ridiculous! I have never had a problem distinguishing the difference between the voices of JD and Maxine Waters. My automobile has no stickers on it either. Evening all. Yep, Margie, you're right! Looks like Isaac will be coming right up over us. We're keeping a close eye, even though he's only supposed to be a Cat 1 or low Cat 2 at landfall. Some of our family are on oil rigs out in the Gulf, and most of the rigs are being evacuated. Usually 2 guys are left on the rigs even during the storm. Got lots of friends/family on the MS Gulf Coast, too. Should be an interesting week. I'll keep you posted. Y'all take care. Gwen :)

Hey Don, I heard about the tornado warning when I was still at my parents' place. I waited for the storm to pass by before I left their place & had no trouble. I did drive through Greencastle, which is about 15 minutes from where my parents live, & I didn't see any damage to the parts I traveled through. A local news report said it was the south part of town & I drove through the center part. We had really heavy rain & some wind, but no damage near my parents. I'm safely back in Cumberland now. Margie, hope your not getting the weather Greencastle, PA has. They just had a tornado and checking the map it's about 70 miles from you.

We received just shy of 3" of rain yesterday. 4,000 folks lost power in downtown Richmond.

I've only been in Florida once -- in May 1968, when I spent a week in Miami attending a convention. It was beautiful for a couple of days, but then the weather turned into a severe storm. Winds were 70-80 mph. I stayed at the Eden Roc and walked about a mile to and from a Chicago Health Club location. Those were the hardest walks of my life!

Look at the southwestern part of Cuba. Does that not look like another tropical system is forming right next to Isaac? Can someone ask the NHC about that? What are the odds if that were another tropical system forming right next to Isaac?

Morning all, friends in Palm Gardens Fla were already getting large waves of rain last night but relieved it won't be a direct hit to them like a few years ago, we were lucky when we lived in Vero Beach not even a warning, JD thanks for the great job keeping everyone informed as soon as you receive it, have a nice weekend gang..AJ

Hi Janice. i know it's way off this topic, but I'm wondering what the long range forecasts show for precip for our parched Iowa cornfields. By long range, I'm thinking about 90 days out. Is there an El Nino involved?
