    Hi everyone

    Well, another September 11th is upon us.  The weather this morning is almost a carbon copy of what it was on this day 11 years ago.  Crisp fall-like day, sunshine and not a cloud in the sky.  And then the ashes came down like snow.

    I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this, but David Halberstam wrote a beautiful book about my husband’s firehouse after the events of 9-11 and did a wonderful job remembering the men who died that day.   Sean tells me that a lot of authors wanted to write a book about Engine 40 Ladder 35, but it was David who they felt most comfortable with, telling their stories with wounds still fresh from that fateful day.   It’s called Firehouse if you want to take a look or buy a copy.   Sean got to know David very well during and after the book, and we met him and his wife Jean many times through the years before he died tragicially in 2007.    I miss David.  Especially today. 

    One of Sean’s friends who worked with him in Engine 40 Ladder 35 is Ray Pfeifer.  Ray survived 9-11 but spent weeks and months digging down at Ground Zero to find remains.  Ray now has cancer.  The cancer is linked to his time down working on the pile.  CBS News did a story on him last night in light of the federal government adding 14 categories of cancer to the list of illnesses linked to the 9/11 terror attacks. This will bring added coverage to rescue workers and people living near ground zero.  Ray may have survived that day, but he and his family have a constant reminder of September 11th with each doctor visit and each round of chemo.

    If you watch closely, you’ll catch my husband Sean’s patch of white hair in the story!   (He’s one of the men that Ray has an annual lunch with) 

    Remember to hug those you love closely today.  My heart breaks for those who lost someone on this day 11 years ago.  It was a beautiful clear day in September.  It was a day the world changed.

Good afternoon Janice and all our loving regular bloggers. Sorry I didn't have a chance to tell everyone I was going to be gone for 2 weeks. Went to tour New Mexico with my lovely wife to celebrate our 48th anniversary. Loved the cool weather there, but came home to at least 4 inches of rain and cooler weather. Have not had a chance to catch up on all the blogs, but hope everyone is doing well. Miss you all. catch you later. BG.

Hi to all.Nice dinner with daughter and grandson and family.Went to dinner instead of lunch.Dinnere a Outback,a wonderful prime rib.Then we went to see the house grandson and wife just bought,first time buyers and they are ver excited.Nice house,was a foreclosure and they got a good deal.Weather here is creeping up to 80's and 90's.Yesterday was 75.Today 85.Better then 100.Fall starts on Sat.With the drought,we probably won't have many pretty colors.Everyone take care and stay safe,Dolores

Hi guys! Gray, dreary day in MySouth. Expecting heavy rains later today/tonight/tomorrow. Then a very cool snap with lows in the 40s. Chilly! Good weekend..spent most of it taking care of grandbabies. Part of the day Saturday I had all 5 of them. Yesterday oldest granddaughter was baptized...a wonderful day for us. Hey Everyone, I couldn't let the day go by with no posts on the blog. It sure is quiet around here. I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend so far. Yesterday was an interesting day at the college where I work. We had the inauguration of the college's 5th president. She's a lovely person & she's a big fan of my photography. She has been & will be a great president. Today I helped my parents with their shopping. I didn't sleep well last night so I'm tired now. Take care, everyone. Margie

Weather report from the hot not so perfect San Diego area, now 112 on my carport in the shade, highest I have ever seen it in 33 years not even in Santa Anas has it been this hot....hope you all are cooler than I am..AJ

Hi to all.I am on my knees to pray for this country and for all families of victums of our people in these effected countries.I just can't believe what is happening,and our President is yukking up on Letterman.God in Heaven,please have mercy on us.Very cool in Edmond and some rain the last 2 days.Temp now is 58.Love it.Cool nights,no extra fans running to keep cool.Hope everyone has a great weekend.I am looking forward to a lunch with my grand son and wife Sat.Stay safe,Dolores

Fox radio is causing super long gas lines this morning. They are at a gas station and selling gas for $1.84 a gallon. 15 gallon max. The price gas was when Obama started. The lines are a couple miles long

Hi everyone, well, don't know what I did wrong, wrote 3 times on 9/11 but for some reason it never went through..sad here also in San Diego as two of those killed at the Embassy in Libya were from here and Gwen and Margie and Dolores, yes I am worried for our dear USA....weather wise...San Diego remains to feel like Florida and I ain't liken' it one bit..Margie and Don thoughts go out to you both..JD..bet you are already planning Halloween costumes for the boys..AJ

Hi, guys. Busy day yesterday. Hope all are well and safe. Seems like our world is spinning out of control again, and I have no confidence in this administration to lead us anywhere but to chaos. Sad commentary on the state of our nation. Not feeling very hopeful at the moment. :(

Boy it's been quiet on the blog today. Dolores, I'm glad someone checked in. It's good to hear from you again. All this violence in the world is really sad. We need stronger leadership in this country. We're certainly not getting it now. My heart goes out to all those affected by the violence. I hope everyone has a good rest of the week. Hey all.Hope everyone is ok.Was gone a couple days.I remember the 9/11 day 11 yrs ago.It is still so vivid.And now we have to contend with attacts in Lybia and the MURDER of 4 people including our Ambassader.No leadership in this country,and Hillary is praising the Lybians for tring to help,when they were the ones who did the act.Pray God will help the family of the victums.God love Romney for acting like a leader.Take care everyone and pray we stay safe.Dolores
