  • Record snow and major cold blast!

    Happy Friday everyone!

We had some impressive early season snow totals across North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota yesterday.  Look at these numbers!

Thankfully most of the snow has already melted, and warmer temperatures are on the way next week.  Certainly a early (and in some cases not welcome) start to winter!

Temperatures are cooling off for many this weekend as the same cold front that helped bring all the snow yesterday plows though the Central U.S.   Here’s a look at the temperature change over the last 24 hours:

The cool air will spread as far south as the southern plains , and push east this weekend.  Light rain or snow will mix across parts of the Upper Midwest while showers and thunderstorms will pop up along the cold front ushering in the cooler air from the Great lakes back through the plains.  This system will move into the Eastern Half of the country this weekend.

Hope you’re all doing well.   Make it a great weekend!

There are a enormous amount of needles here in Carmel NY that are turning to yellow, indicating they are about to fall off.In 20 years I have not noticed such a large amount...This could be a sign of a bad winter ahead.

Good morning, everyone. I just wanted to post something to cover up the spam. It's supposed to be a rainy weekend here. I heard a little rain during the night. I had a rough night. I found out an omelet with onions is not a good thing to eat after a colonoscopy. I think it was the onions that gave me one major stomach ache last night. I better be more careful today with what I eat until my plumbing gets back to normal. Have a great weekend, everyone! Margie

Hey Gwen, I bet you're getting excited about your vacation. I hope you have good weather! I'm taking a couple days next week to go up to northern PA for a fall foliage photo op. There's a place called the Grand Canyon of PA that I want to see. I hope the weather cooperates for my trip. Audrey, I think Romney kicked Obama's tail in that debate. He was really sharp. It will be interesting to watch the other ones. Have a great weekend, everyone! Margie

Lovely (but warm) day here. Tomorrow begins the cool snap that should last through the middle of next week. Camping again this weekend with friends; family reunion tomorrow; preparing next week for vacation the following week. I'm gonna be busy! :)

Hey folks. I hope everyone is having a good day. Dolores, I saw your post on the last thread but I'm going to answer it here. Thanks for thinking of me. The actual colonoscopy was a piece of cake. I was there and back in less than 2 hours. Everything was clear so I don't have to do it again for another 10 years, thank God. It was the prep that was awful. I don't think I ever want to see another bottle of Gatorade-ever! It was a long night but I made it through. Now I'm trying to rehydrate. I’m also enjoying real food again after being on a liquid diet yesterday. Have a great weekend everyone! Margie

J.D. Isn't it a little earlier than usual for snow to hit parts of the country? Seems like it! I can wait until it is our turn for the white stuff! Much prefer the warmer weather, although snow does bring a beautiful scene to the landscape. Now do we need to take a "poll" to see who won the debate the other night? Best I get it started. Of course, Romney won. I believe Obama would rather have been out to dinner with Michelle instead of at the debate. What do you think? Audrey
