Morning, guys! Hope all are safely hunkered down until this storm passes. Hurricanes can produce some freaky weather, even when you aren't in the direct path. Margie and Don, let us know how y'all fare. Looks like rain (and maybe even snow) is headed your way. We have a lovely late Fall day going in MySouth. It was 33 degrees with a breeze on Walton's Mountain this morning! Pretty chilly by my standards. Happy late b'day to your Mom, Margie. Y'all take care. Gwen :)

Hey folks. I just got up and found that the college is closed today so I can go back to bed. Between last night and this morning, we've gotten about 1/2" of rain. The high wind gust is only 17 mph so far so that's not bad. The worst is yet to come, however. Take care, everyone. Margie

Janice, I hope you and all my other Weather Machine buddies stay safe during the next few days. You are all in my thoughts and prayers! -- George Spink, Los Angeles

Hey everyone. I forgot to mention that my mom appreciated all the birthday wishes. We had a nice time yesterday. I got a treat of my own today. I've talked about my favorite server, Stacy, from Ruby Tuesday. Well, she treated me to belated birthday meal today. It was weird being there without my parents but Stacy took good care of me. I went to her house on Friday & delivered the photos I took of her adorable 6 month old. She loved my photos so that was great. She's very special. Margie

Hey to all the regular bloggers out there. I see that another storm has brought with it some interesting blog posts. I hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm safely back home now. I'm glad I traveled west from my parents' place & not east. It was a little windy but that was it. I saw a bunch of power company trucks lined up along I-81 in southern PA. We have a high wind warning & flood watch for the approaching storm. The rain is getting closer. This should be interesting. Take care, all. Margie

Where can we find a list of school closings without the news actually being on T.V.?

Janice, if one looks at the weather forecasts ons does NOT see the western front hitting the Hurricane, and hence we are under-alerted to this massive problem. These 2 hitting each other will propel this thing to unknown intensity and that is not evident by the weather forecasters way of putting this across.

We live on Shrewsbury River in Oceanport Nj. 9.30 am river is spilling over & at our bottom step. High tide is not expected till Monday...this does not bode well for the residents of our condo complex..Helen Mara

Hey to all the regular bloggers out there. Just thought I'd stop by to say hello so you don't see the whiners and the spam the first thing on the blog. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Today is my mom's 90th birthday. Last year we got snowed out with a big October snow storm. At least this "Frankenstorm" isn't going to hit until after our celebration. Have a great weekend everyone and to all those in the storm's path--be careful! Margie

OMG!! I am THOROUGHLY convinced that you weather "forecasters" should do tryouts for Hollywood or maybe even the WWE.

Hi everyone: Watching Sandy the hurricane from a distance but hope nothing large becomes of it. Today's weather here is beautiful, cold, and lots of falling leaves. Our yard is completely covered from the oak trees shedding. The neighbor has a BIG job this week-end, but he loves to do it with all the easy equipment we furnish for him. Stay safe all, and enjoy your week-end. Audrey

Will be keeping a weather eye out for Sandy as she barrels up the coast...even though I'm out of harm's way. Hope all are taking proper precautions for whatever may occur. (JD, I heard you say you had given Sean a "honey-do list" this morning.) Next few days should be quite interesting. We are supposed to be getting very chilly in the next couple of days. Y'all take care and be prepared! TTFN! Gwen :)

I was to travel from Pgh to NYC early on the 29th for a few days. Might as well stay in bed and watch reruns of I love lucy.

Was just stuck at a railroad crossing for a freight train heading north. Was amazed how many cars had telephone polls. The electric compainies are getting prepared. There were a few thousand polls on that train.
