    The East quiets down, The West gets active

    Good morning all.

    Well, I have never been more glad that:  It’s Friday, AND the weather is QUIET across the Northeast.  Phew!  It’s been a challenging few weeks for us.  My family lost power during hurricane Sandy,  then it came back on for a few days and now it’s out again after the Nor’easter.  Nights have been cold, but we’re doing OK.   I’m just hoping it comes back soon.   It’s been a slow recovery, and hundreds of thousands are still without power.  Many don’t have homes and are just trying to figure out how to rebuild their houses and their livelihoods.  Keep them in your prayers .

    So let’s talk about this record breaking Nor’easter one final time.  Here are some of the latest snow totals and wind gusts from yesterday: 

    As mentioned, a warm up and quieter weather is in the forecast for the weekend. 

    Across the West an impressive winter storm will bring rain, wind, snow and blizzard conditions over the Rockies.  Snow will also pile up over the Sierra, the Wasatch and Colorado Rockies:

     

    The Central U.s will be quiet, however some of the energy across the west could produce severe weather this weekend from the southern Plains up into the Midwest.  We’ll of course keep you up to date on this story over the next few days.

    Ok.  I am going to rest up this weekend and try to get some energy back.  Can’t wait to spend some time with my family.  I hope you will too!

Hey folks, I just want to wish a happy Veterans Day to all the wonderful veterans out there & also to our active military. Thank you for your wonderful service to our country. My dad was a marine during WWII & he just gave me a bunch of military items, including his marine jacket. For something that's over 70 yrs old, it's in remarkable shape. I'm going to display it somehow in my house. I also have his dog tag & discharge papers. What a fun project to work on! Take care, everyone! Margie

Hi all: Janice, I'm sorry you are without power again. This can be very devastating for you and your family. With young children, I am sure it is hard, especially to keep everyone healthy inspite of the conditions. Pray you will get electric restored soon and once again enjoy the "warmth of home." That nor'easter sure dumped a lot of snow. Those winds look pretty impressive, too. I just read an article in my local paper about Garrett County. That's the westernmost county in Maryland & the highest elevation. They've restored power to 98% of the customers who lost it during Sandy. They had to remove 3000 trees from the roads & 70% of the roads had been impassable. My friend's parents just got their power back this week. I feel for those along the coast who lost power again. Janice, I hope your power comes back on soon. I've been praying for your family, as well as all those impacted by the storm. I hope Matthew & Teddy are staying warm somehow.
