  • What will the Groundhog predict?

    Good morning everyone!  Happy Friday!

Once again, it’s the return of Arctic air into the Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast today.

Windchill advisories are up where it will feel well below zero for many cities.

Lake effect snow will continue to pile up with some areas getting another foot or more.

Light snow will taper off across the Appalachians, Mid Atlantic and New England.

Much of the west will be quiet with a few snow showers across the northern Rockies.  Warm and dry for the Southwest and great weather is on tap for the PGA tournament in Phoenix.

And tomorrow is Groundhog Day!  What will our furry prognosticator predict tomorrow?  Well, look at the forecast!

If I was him, I might not even get out of bed!

    Have a great weekend all!

The game finally became a competetive and fairly good exciting game. The halftime show was horrible, in my opinion. Lip-syching undecipherable words isn't my ideal. Maybe I am too old also(bring back The Who, Stones or Paul McCartney). Hard to believe some of those companies spent 4 million for a thirty second ad and put on such a poor display. I guess all the money went to air time and left nothing for a creative ad agency. Have a great week all. JB

Hey Gwen! I agree with you on all counts! I missed the national anthem but the rest of what I've seen has not impressed me at all. I don't like Baltimore (sorry Don!) so I'm rooting for the 49ers. It's really depressing. I haven't liked any of the commercials either. I wish the lights would have stayed out. That's my two cents. Hey to everyone else out there. I wanted to post something before this thread expires tomorrow morning. Have a great week, everyone! Margie

Gwen far the Super Bowl has been a super dud! I'm sorry, but Aicia Keyes' rendition of the National Anthem was terrible! The game has been so lopsided that it's a bore to watch. I was not impressed by Beyonce's half time show. Now the lights have gone out. What's up with that? I really don't care who wins, but I would like to have seen a closer game. Oh yeah...the commercials are really sucking big time, too! Looks like a waste of the past 3 hours. :(

Hope all are enjoying their weekend. Sunny and low 70's here with lows at night in the 40's. More like spring than winter. I will watch the game tomorrow but still am not sure who I am favooring. Hopefully, it will be a good game. Blowouts aren't a lot of fun to watch. Take care all, JB

Hi folks. Lovely day in MySouth after a chilly start of 25. Got up to a glorious, sunny 65. Been really busy all week as payroll must deal with W2s, qtrly/yrly reports, etc. I can breathe a little easier now. Hope Teddy gets to feeling better soon. It hurts to see your babies sick. Sam, we can and freeze lots of fruits and veggies. Also, we usually put 5 or 6 deer in the freezer yearly. Your jam sure sounds good! Y'all have a good evening! Gwen :)

Hi all. 50 degrees on the WA coast, bright sunshine, no wind. No groundhogs up here but my moles are leaving mounds all over the yard! They are kind of tough to eradicate totally. We canned raspberry jam today to get rid of the berries in the freezer. My wife doesn't care for canning anymore. We used to do lots of fruits and veggies every year which tasted so much better than the store boughten stuff. Have a good weekend! Be safe!

I always thought winds were named for where they came from i.e. north easterly or desert wind in this area; not where they are going. To Santa Ana. Also I thought the term Santana Referred to Devil; as in Devil winds as they are hot and dry,and often lead to wild fires in this area.

Why are Santana winds now called Santa Ana winds?

Hey folks! Where is everyone today? This blog is way too quiet. I hope everyone is having a good day. I'm trying to stay warm. It's cold and windy outside but at least it's sunny. High wind gust is only 28 mph today as opposed to the 46 mph high gust yesterday. I hope everyone has a great weekend! Take care, all. Margie
