  • First potential severe weather outbreak of 2013

    Hello everyone!

Hope you’re having a great weekend.  Wanted to give you all an early heads up that we are about to get very active in terms of severe weather this week.

We’re watching a system that will blast out of the Rockies and will bring the potential for life-threatening weather across the Plains and the Mississippi River Valley starting Monday and lasting through Wednesday.  This could be our worst outbreak since last May.  Here are the areas we are monitoring closely:

As you can see, it’s been a quiet start to the year in terms of tornado numbers, but that could change:

And this is typically the “bullseye” where we see the most severe storms during the month of April:

Meanwhile, the eastern half of the country is going to feel a nice Spring warm up this week (look at these 80 degree temps!)

However, we’re still feeling below normal temperatures for the Upper Midwest with rain and snow for the region.   This next big storm could bring huge snowfall numbers over the Plains and Midwest:

Also, weather was in the news this week as the National Weather Service has changed their “warning” system in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.  This is big news because many forecasters believe (including myself) that because hurricane warnings/watches were never issued for the Northeast during the height of Sandy, there was some confusion from the public and officials about just how serious this storm was going to be.   If you were affected by Sandy, or live in an area that could be affected by hurricanes, this is worth a read:

That’s it for now.  I’ll be sure and keep you updated with the latest in severe weather news as we get closer to the event on Monday.

Be safe, and have a great weekend.

RIP Annette...M.I.C.K.E.Y. M.O.U.S.E!!!! You are THE Mousetateer!!

Hey folks, I know why spammers can do those long posts but I don't want to post anything in case it gives some other moron the info they need to post long spam posts. Gwen & Dolores, I'm glad you folks have happy events in April. It's kind of the opposite for me. My brother Mike died April 15, 1987. He was diagnosed with Hodgkins disease in April 4 yrs earlier. I was diagnosed w/breast cancer last April & this April I'm having more surgery. At least my parents are celebrating are celebrating their 54th anniv. April 18. I do love the springtime flowers that April brings so it’s not all bad! Margie

Happy Monday, guys. Didn't check in over the weekend, but now see we've got an active thread. Hubby and I are camping again, so I usually only check in on weekdays. April 16 looks to be a big day for several of y'all. You are all in my prayers. That's also my military son's birthday. He won't be here to celebrate with us, so we'll save the celebration until he returns home. Hubby has a birthday on the 11th and the twin grands will be 5 on the 15th. April is a BIG month for us! TTFN! :)

Happy Sunday all good folks, I have a question...why can we have only 500 letters but Spammers get a bazillion? AJ

Just wanted to bury the spam a little more. The sun came out late this afternoon and warmed things up to 76--I like that! I went out for a little while but didn't want to stay out too long. I have to try to avoid allergies before my surgery next week. I don't want to get sick! Have a great evening, everyone. Margie

Great, we get de-spammed only to have the moron come back again. You just can't get away from stupid people sometimes. Hey to all the regular bloggers. I just went out to check out my garden on this beautiful 73 degree day. It's mostly cloudy today but there has been some sun. I have some perennials starting to bloom and my daffodils are almost ready to bloom. It's looking and feeling like spring! Take care, everyone. Margie

Thanks for all your support! Pouring down rain here on the coast, snowing like crazzzzzzzy up on the mountain passes, and a passenger train got caught in a mudslide up near Mukilteo. And I need to make sure all my camping reservations are lined up for our annual family reunion. I think I need 2 more sites to have enough. It is in August, but it doesn't pay to dilly-dally around! OK, see ya'll later. Sam

Sam. For over three years I have a Google Alert for bladder cancer and read everything written. T1 is below the bladder lining. Six BCG treatments will remove that lining and hopefully the tumor. BCG is in very short supply and will be until the end of this year. Discuss these treatments with your doctor and if it's because he can't get it now, you may need to go elsewhere. I too had T1 and the BCG didn't work for me but it works for many others. Best of luck

Mixed weather here today. Warm and decidedly wet. I read in the paper last night that WA apple crop is expected to be in full bloom 4/17, the earliest since 2004. Peaches, cherries, and apricots will also be about 10 days earlier than usual. My plum and apple trees have bloomed already. The doc found some T1 bladder cancer tumors in me. Got those removed a couple of weeks ago and will get the prostrate shaved down to size on 4/16. Evidentally the doc heard I've got excellent insurance!!
