  • Another horrific night for Oklahoma

    Hi everyone.

It seems like every time I sit down to blog, we’ve had another severe weather outbreak.  And as of this writing,  nine people have died in Oklahoma.  Two of them were children which just makes this all the more devastating.

After over a dozen reports of tornadoes spanning 6 states, flooding is now the big concern as 6-12 inches of rain has fallen in just a few days.

Many rivers will continue to rise to major flood levels.  People are being urged to stay off the roads, and do not travel across high water.

Meanwhile, today’s severe threat will stretch from the Great Lakes down into Texas.  We’re not expecting violent tornadoes like yesterday, but there is the possibility for isolated tornadoes along with heavy flooding rain, winds and hail.

Tomorrow the risk of strong to severe storms will move into the Northeast ¦not out of the question to see isolated tornadoes in some pretty populated areas.

And finally, Hurricane season starts today.  I’m sure you’ve heard we’re expecting a very active season.  We’re already watching possible development in the Gulf of Mexico later this week.

Be safe everyone, and hug the ones you love.

    JD

You were correct in your comments about poor coverage via storm chasers/ i WATCHED IT ON fRIDAY AND WAS CONCERNED ABOUT ONE OF THEM TAKING HIGHER THAN NORMAL RISKS BECAUSE THEY WERE LEADING THE SHOW. iT IS ONE THING TO FOLLOW A CAR CHASE OR A BEAR UP A BEAR BOUNCING. iT IS POOR JUDGEMENT TO PUT THE WHOLE BROADCAST ON THE STORM CHASER. yOUR COMMENTS ARE RIGHT ON THE MARK.

Hi Janice: Just saw you on Neil Cavoto's show this afternoon. I agree you wholeheartedly about the storm chasers. They have a great mission to perform, but one must get "out of the way" at all costs. It is tragic to learn of these deaths when they were trying to do their job. Blessings and prayers to the families involved. By the way, you looked beautiful as usual and very articulate in your presentation of the subject. Have a nice evening with your 3 boys! Audrey

Hey Audrey, I'm glad you checked in. I'm glad your husband is doing well. I pray that he continues to improve. I hope your weather has been calm. Our spring has felt more like summer but at least today was a little cooler. We had 4 days in a row of 90+ temperatures. Highest temp was 95. Today it was only 86. Thankfully, no severe weather around here. I am looking forward to going back to work. It is wonderful to have such great folks to work with. Hey to everyone else out there. Take care, all. Margie

Hi all: It's been a while. Have been busy with my husband's needs since he came home about a month ago, but he is doing well, for which we are grateful. Such terrible weather hitting the middle part of our country. Our prayers and thoughts go out to all who have been affected. Trust all of you are well and enjoying the Spring weather in your area. Have a wonderful evening. Audrey

Hey AJ, I'm going back to work on Wednesday. That will make it 7 weeks that I've been off work. I'm looking forward to getting back to work! I've been driving for a little over a week now so I don't feel trapped in my house anymore. I went to the college yesterday and had lunch with a couple of the library crew. I've been getting a lot of support from the college community. Even the president sent me a lovely note. She's such a nice person. I feel very blessed. Dolores, I'm glad you & your family are safe. Those storms were so scary. Take care, everyone. Margie

Please, please no more Jeff Piotrowski. His adrenaline fueled manic behavior and voice delivery are both disturbed and disturbing. Can you imagine, I had to turn to CNN's Anderson Pooper to get news calmly delivered! Please don't make me do that ever again!

Good morning. A fair & sunny on the WA coast. Got a call from SIL in Moore, OK. She rode out the storm in her neighbors storm shelter. They walked her home after the storm (she's 80+) and she said the water came up above her ankles. No major damage (again)!! Just lots & lots of rain & water.
