  • The heat is on!

    Hi everyone!

It’s officially summertime in the Northeast:  The complaining about the heat is as relentless as the temperatures.  HA!

But not only across the Northeast, the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley are dealing with temperatures in the 90s, with heat indices near or past 100 degrees.  We could set some record highs while the humidity will make it feel pretty awful.  Heat advisories are up for many big cities including New York and Philadelphia.

And this is going to stay with us all week long, so please take precautions especially with the young ones and the elderly who need to be indoors as much as possible and hydrated.

Meantime, an upper level low will bring some cooler temperatures over the Southwest and Southern Plains.

Parts of Oklahoma and Texas could get 1-3 inches of rain which is great news for this drought striken area, however too much of a good thing will bring flooding to the region.

And over the last few weeks I’ve been doing some writing for our Op Ed section of Foxnews.com.  This week’s topic is on the safety of children during extreme weather.  I’d love for you to read it, and let me know what you think.  It’s a topic near and dear to my heart:

Hi all. Light overcast this morning but pleasant. My niece called from SW of Seattle and they had light rain. I saw a weather forecast in the newspaper last night. Pretty well summed it all up. "As usual, tomorrow's weather is pretty much anyone's guess." Have a good one! Sam

JD, I enjoyed reading your op-ed about children's safety and tornado preparations. Quite a multi-talented lady you are! Op-ed writer, author of a new children's book, our favorite meteorologist and an excellent dancer, interviewer and mom. I hope all are having a great week. We got some needed rain here and some more is forecasted for the next few days. JB

Gwen

Hi guys! Happy Tuesday! Looks like some hot temps coming our way. We're supposed to get to 100+ next week, but I can't complain. It has been much cooler and rainer this year than any time I can ever remember. 100+ will finally be "normal" MS Summer temps. Sam and Dan, I do envy you guys with your high temps in the 70s. Hope all our bloggers are having a good week so far. Catch y'all later! Gwen :)

Another beautiful day in Sonoma County! High of 78 degrees, low of 50 degrees and currently 64 degrees at 5:15 p.m. The ocean breeze comes in everyday between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - God' air conditioning! Last year at this time I was living in Columbus, OH and melting from the heat and humidity. My home had an in-ground pool (a.k.a. - "money pit!" and I've never had so many friends! Hope that all the regulars on this blog area doing well. Best - Dan

While the east and Midwest swelter in torrid temps; the central area washes away with the rains; We on the WA coast are saying thanks for living in God's country. It is 68, clear and sunny at 5pm PDT. Tomorrow is supposed to get hot at 79, then the rest of the week is hi of 73, low of 53. No rain. I've got relatives that live up around Indianapolis and they have to wear jackets when they visit us. It's all what you are used to I guess.

Hi everyone: It's HOT today in the Midwest. But let's not complain, since we will wish it were warmer in the middle of January! The landscape around here is so beautiful this time of the year because of the rains, sunshine, and temps. What a wonderful creation we have to enjoy. Just received a telephone call letting us know about the "coming of the 34th great grandchild in February." Wow! My husband has started to call them by number instead of their name. Have a nice evening all. Audrey
