    Hi everyone!

Hope you’re having a great weekend.  We’re enjoying a picture perfect Sunday here in NYC.  We took the kids to the beach yesterday (Long Island has some pretty awesome beaches), and it was Theodore’s first trip to see the Ocean.   He loved it.  Of course when we came home, we brought a whole lot of the beach home with us!  (sand everywhere!)

It’s been a while since we’ve had a weather update – and flooding has been the big story over the last few weeks.  Today is no exception.  Colorado Springs had flooding and mudslides yesterday.  A chance of thunderstorms in the forecast this week will bring the threat for more storms with the possibility for heavy rain:

We’re also watching the Midwest and parts of the Mississippi and Missouri River Valleys this week for the possibility of more rain on saturated ground:

Meanwhile, a cold front will push across the Plains and into the Great Lakes.  Ahead of the front, showers and thunderstorms will erupt.  Some storms could turn severe with large hail and damaging winds with some heavy downpours:

It’s still hot and humid over the Southern Plains.  Dallas will cool off (relatively speaking) later this week:

And in the good news department, the Silver Fire in California is now 75 percent contained, and is expected to be fully contained tomorrow.

There are still dozens of wildfires buring across the West this year:

Thanks for checking back in today!  I hope your weekend was great.  Talk to you Monday!

Janice, since you are chief of your dept. I am writing you (again). I realize the weather is important to areas where there is danger, but we in New Mexico DO occasionally get a strong weather front (for 24 hrs)..but, you, as well as your peers, seem to forget that New Mexico IS A PART OF THE USA! You don't have to report our weather issues, just stand aside on the map while reporting the weather, so we can see our forcast. Is that too much to ask of Fox? Would appreciate your consideration.

Kind of overcast, 65 degrees with 70% humidity today. The forecast says chance of thunder storms but we rarely get those here on the coast. They may get some 50 to 100 miles east of us. Hope you all have a good week coming up...........Sam
