  • Heavy rain for the Southeast, Dry and hot over the Northwest

    Hi everyone!

Hope you’re having a great weekend!

We’ve got some extreme weather hotspots that are making life difficult across parts of the country:

A stalled front that stretches from the Gulf Coast along the Southeast will bring heavy rain into next week for this region.  Flash flooding will be a big concern with plenty of moisture available.  Remember that area of low pressure in the Gulf we thought could develop?  Well, thankfully it’s not going to transition into a depression or a storm, however the rain associated with the system is being pulled in by that stalled front.

On the other hand, dry, and hot conditions persist over the Northwest where dozens of wildfires are burning.

The Beaver Creek fire is only 6 percent contained, and it’s going to be warm for the rest of the week with not a lot of rain in the forecast.

Meanwhile, Thunderstorms could bring heavy rain (possible flooding) over the Southwest.

If you live in the Northeast, it’s been unseasonably cool lately, but a warm up is in store this week!

Enjoy it while it lasts.  We’re going to have another cold front push in late next week bringing temps down again.

In other news, I wrote an Op Ed piece for the Opinion Section of Foxnews.com last week that’s getting a lot of discussion!  Let me know what you think:

I’ll touch base again tomorrow.  Just a week away from Freddy the Frogcaster’s official release!  So exciting.  I’ll keep you posted on all the Fox programs I’ll be on if you want to tune in!

    Talk to you tomorrow

Boy, it's been quiet on this blog lately. Hope all the regular bloggers are having a good week so far. Gwen, I read Janice's book the first thing when I got home the day it came. I think you'll love it when you read it. Hopefully you'll be able to borrow one back. Since my niece and nephew are a little too old for the book, I'm going to donate one to the children's section in the college library. It will make a fine addition to our collection! Have a great day, all! Margie

Hi guys. Got my Freddy books last week. Had 2 and gave one to Eric's kids and one to Nick's kids. Unfortunately, they took the books home before I got a chance to read it. Now, I've got to borrow one of them back in order to read it. Maybe the rain has now moved out. We have been quite cool and damp this whole Summer. Very unusual! It will probably go back to muggy and hot now. I was off Friday, so today has been a tough Monday for me. Hope y'all have a good week! Gwen :)

Hey Janice, good Op Ed piece! I wholeheartedly agree with you. Math wasn't one of my favorite subjects but I loved science. I participated in a number of science fairs in school & I remember winning at least one honorable mention. Girls should be encouraged to reach for the stars & not let stupid stereotypes hold them back. From middle school on, I always wanted to be a librarian. However, in high school I did briefly consider meteorology. I nixed that idea when I found out how much math you needed to know. Now I do weather stuff as a hobby. Thanks for the great job you do!
