  • First day of Pre-K for Matthew, it's gonna get chilly, and Freddy's on the Willis report!

    Hi everyone!

Happy Friday.  I took Matthew to his very first day of Pre-K this week, and it was hard holding back the tears.   This will be his school for the next several years.  When he lined up with all of his classmates with their backpacks waiting for their teacher to lead them into the classroom I saw his life advance before my eyes.  I knew that I would remember this day when he goes off to college.   A milestone moment.   I looked glanced over at the other moms (and dads) in the crowd, and I think everyone was thinking the same thing.  Our children are growing up.  This is one of the first steps in becoming independent.  The shocking reality that one day, our babies won’t need us anymore.  Matthew is becoming quite the little boy.  He loves school, and gets along with his classmates.  He continues to make me a proud mama.  And it did feel so good when he saw me waiting for him outside after his day at school.  His eyes lit up, and he ran right over to me to give me an enormous hug.  I sure needed that!

So, weather has taken a bit of a back seat lately with all the government shut-down news.  I’ll give you more details on what’s in store for us in the next few weeks in another blog this weekend, but for now, just get prepared for our first big shot of cold air.  And not just for the usual suspects — everyone across the Gulf Coast will be getting a taste of the “polar express” over the next week or so.  See all the deep pinks/purples?  That’s the coldest air of the season on its way!  Brrr!

And last, but not least…my friend Gerri Willis has invited me on her show “The Willis Report” tonight to talk about Freddy the Frogcaster and other weather related news stories.  She’s one of the smartest and nicest ladies I’ve ever met.  So I hope you will tune in!  6pm eastern time…

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.  Enjoy this one– it might be one of our last before the big chill sets in! :)

Good morning, Janice! I have a budding weather forcaster, named Jordan, who is going to turn 7 in January. When asked to write down what he wanted to be, he replied "Storm Chaser," He still hasn't given up the dream and watches every weather forcast he can find. I've even made a homemade weather map for him to practice giving forecasts and warnings on. I was wondering if there was any way a person could obtain an autographed copy of your Freddy the Frogcaster? He would love it!

Hi all: Good news for you Sam. Blessings on you, and hope you stay cancer free. Our weather today is gloomy, so we again made our own sunshine. That's not hard to do when you start counting your blessings everyone! Have a surprise party to attend tomorrow. Daughter and son-in-law are celebrating 50th years. What a milestone. Do not hear of that too often these days. Have a nice week-end all. Audrey

That's great news about your cystoscopy, Sam! I pray you will stay cancer free! It's a sunny day here, too, for a change. Have a great weekend, everyone! Margie

Hi all on this beautiful blue skied, sunny day on the WA coast. 46 degrees and time to put the tuberous begonias in on the patio before the frosts hit. Two small rose bushes in full bloom got mown down to nubbins this week compliments os a passing deer or two. I had another cystoscopsy yesterday and the Doc said there was no sign of the bladder/prostrate cancer I had and he says "It looks like we licked this one!" We'll see how the next one looks in April 2014. I'm happy.
