  • Prayers to those in the path of one of the most powerful Typhoons in history

    Hi everyone

The damage will be catastrophic, and unfortunately there will likely be a large loss of life in the Phillippines as one of the strongest Typhoons we’ve ever recorded, Haiyan,  is bulldozing its way through this very vulnerable chain of islands.

The winds at its peak were 195 mph sustained with gusts over 230 mph as the monster churned across the western Pacific. That’s equivalent to a strong Category 5 hurricane.

Haiyan will push through the Central Philippines over the next 12 hours and then into the South China Sea, weakening slightly.  The system (which is known as Yolanda in the Philippines) is huge, extending over 1,000 miles.

On satellite, this storm is “perfect” in terms of its structure and presentation:

Your prayers are needed tonight for all those in the path of this terrifying, historic tropical cyclone.

Hey to all the regular bloggers out there. The blog has been quiet lately. Figured I'd post something friendly so the criticism isn't the first thing you see. The initial reports from the Philippines are heartbreaking. We definitely need to keep those folks in our prayers. In contrast, the weather here is beautiful. It's chilly in the 40's but the sunshine is beautiful. I hope all the regular bloggers have a great weekend! Take care, all. Margie

The title of the Fox News article "Prayers To....." is way off. Thankfully, the caption under the radar image correctly states prayers for those in the path are needed.
