  • Travel delays for the Northeast/New Year's Forecast

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

    Good morning everyone,

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I can’t believe it’s over, and we’ll be ringing in the New Year in just a few days!

We’ve got some weather that might delay travels, and if you’re planning your New Years Eve festivities, I’ve got details on that too!

The Midatlantic and Northeast are in for rain and wind for much of the day today.  Upstate New York and New England will see snow and or a wintry mix.

Dangerously cold air is settling in again across the Northern Plains and Midwest with wind chill readings as cold as 50 below zero.

This cold air will move south and eastward making for a cold New years eve for many big cities.

Santa Ana winds will be moderate to strong across the mountains of Southern California.  Temperatures are warm and dry increasing the fire danger.

    And for New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day, here’s a look ahead:

Do any of you have New Year’s resolutions?  Let me hear them!

  • A visit from Santa!

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

    Hello everyone!

Just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas.  We’re having a wonderful day filled with family, friends and lots of love.

The boys were so excited that Santa and his reindeer came for a visit last night.  They ate all their carrots, oats and home made chocolate chip cookies!

    After:

Much love from my family to yours!

  • Our weekend before Christmas storm exits clearing the way for Santa!

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

    Hi everyone!

The storm that brought severe storms, heavy snow, ice and rain is now on its way out.

And I’ve got good news — after this storm, the weather maps look relatively quiet this week.  We will see unsettled weather for the Northwest and some snow over the Rockies and the Midwest, but nothing major.  The temperature will also be “seasonal”

Here’s a look at where we expect to see a “white Christmas”

The forecast for Santa (No sleigh delays!)

    And Christmas Day:

Merry Christmas my friends!  I will post an Open Blog mid-week so you can let us all know what you received from Santa.  And if you happen to see him, please tell him I’ve been a good girl.  Tee hee!  :)

  • Major storm affecting millions of holiday travellers!

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist
  • Another strong storm threatens holiday travellers

    Janice Dean | Meteorologist

    Good morning everyone!

We have a very messy weekend setting up for millions of travelers.   A strong storm coming out of the west will bring ice, snow, flooding rain and even tornadoes!

The storm cranks up Saturday morning with the potential for icy weather over the plains and Midwest.

Several inches of snow will fall north of the icy line and severe storms including tornadoes will fire on Saturday afternoon and evening over the south.

Sunday the storm pushes across the Northeast with rain ice and snow.

Folks who are travelling need to call ahead and check with their airline or make sure they are following their local weather very closely.

I’ll post another blog this weekend.  Until then, be safe everyone!
