  • Another possible ice storm moves in...

    Hi everyone

Another big storm is going to affect us this weekend…

As one system exits, another moves in.

First off, temperatures are 10-40 degrees below average for much of the country – except for Florida where it remains incredible warm!  We are all very jealous…

A new storm across the Great Basin will push into the Mississippi Valley and merge with a system over the Southeast tomorrow.

This storm will bring new snow over the Central Rockies and mountains of California.  Over a foot is possible for the Sierra Nevada range. Light snow could even fall in the Sacramento and Central Valley.

Snow could also fall in the high elevations near the coast of San Diego and San Francisco.

Record low temps are likely for California and the Great Basin.

A band of freezing rain/sleet will develop over parts of the Tennessee Valley and the Mid-Atlantic on Sunday.

We could have a significant ice storm tomorrow for the Virginias, North Carolina.  D.C. could see snow before changing to an icy mix tomorrow.  Boston will see light snow Sunday night/wintery mix Monday

While Philly and New York will deal with a wintery mix then just rain Sunday-Monday.

I’ll be in for Rick tomorrow on Fox and Friends – and probably all day long since it’s going to be one big mess for the eastern third of the country.

Be safe everyone!  Stay warm (except if you live in Florida – in which case we all wish we could be your houseguests!)

It's almost 2 a.m. in Los Angeles. I'm watching the Fox News coverage of the Nelson Mandela Memorial Service in Soweto, South Africa. Once again, I am amazed by the power of television. The world seems so much smaller than it was when I was a boy in the 1940's and early 1950's. I have watched news stories emanating from South Africa with great interest during the past 25 years. Nelson Mandela's influence extends far beyond South Africa. May he rest in peace....

27 and an inch of dry fluffy powder snow this morning. That's unusual as we usually get wet sloppy stuff. I'm happy though, I have doctor appts. today and tomorrow so the roads won't be too slick. QUESTION: Why do they put hospitals and medical complexes up on the highest hill in town then not sand the road up when icy? Other than that, I'm going to make a big pot of stew and chill out after the appts. Carl, report your weather, join in! Sam

26 degrees. Supposed to start snowing at 5am Monday and snow until Tuesday. With the heater, my enclosed patio is hanging in there at 33. Snow is different for driving everywhere. We had a friend move out from Minnesota and joked about us putting on chains for just a little snow. First snow of the year he couldn't go anywhere! Our snow is wet and slick, compacting to instant ice, he was used to a drier non slickery stuff. Sam

Hey everyone. Just got back from Sunday school. Didn’t want to stay for the service because the snow started heavily during the time I was in Sunday school. I wish people would use common sense in bad weather. 4-wheel drives are not invincible. Some moron in a 4WD went flying by as I waited to pull out of the parking lot & when he got to the steep hill he slid all over the place & wound up hitting someone. I kept praying, "Help me, Jesus!" & was able to stop my slide without hitting anyone/anything. Of course, I was going a lot slower than the moron. Now I’m home safe & sound & I’m not going anywhere! Stay safe, everyone! Margie

The local weatherman said we are having freezing fog?! I looked out the back door and I cant see a thing it is so foggy. It is 23 now. Crazy weather in Dallas. I never heard of freezing fog! I had to look it up. The back yard looks like a old scary movie. Be safe and warm all. PJ
