  • Another dangerous winter storm for the South

Hello all!  Hope you had a great weekend.  We had a big birthday party for Matthew and Theodore at our place which went great.  I can’t believe my little Theodore is now three.   I have to admit, it’s hard for me to see my littlest getting so big.   I’m trying to live every moment and enjoy the time I have with them in the present.  It truly has gone by so fast.

And now…another big week of weather to cover.  This time around, it’s the South we’re keeping a close eye on including Atlanta Georgia which has already declared a state of emergency with all schools being closed in the area on Wednesday (a good idea in my opinion!)

This next storm will bring all sorts of wintry weather over the Southern Plains, through the lower Mississippi Valley and into the Southeast.

Several inches of snow is possible with many areas seeing a mix of rain/sleet/ice through Wednesday.

Some of these spots could get a half an inch of ice which will be so dangerous and impossible to travel through.

This system will eventually track across the Northeast Thursday with possible accumulating snow and ice.

Meanwhile, more rain and snow is in store for the West.  Up to a foot of snow is possible across the Cascades.

We’ll of course keep everyone up to date on this next storm system that could be crippling across the South.

    As the never-ending winter continues…

    Be safe everyone!

We finally got back to 48, still raining. I've been watching snow events around the country, mostly because of the affect it has on ground water reservoirs and farming. A note of trivia: Paradise on Mt Rainier at 5400 ft. elev. set the world record annual snowfall total at 1122" (93.5') July 1, 1971 - June 30, 1972. Paradise right now has 108' on the ground, snow season is getting into gear now. Be careful, all. If there's snow, there's probably ice under it. Sam

Hey Don! That's a scary forecast! You better stay home if you get that much as you know how bad people are at driving in winter weather down that way. It seems like the snow will never end this winter. We got almost 3 inches yesterday. That's the second time the forecast was for a 30% chance of snow showers & we got 3". The day after Christmas was the same. Be careful if you do get a lot of snow. Take care, everyone! Margie

Fox radio here in Richmond is saying. "depending on the model, (European vs. Canadian) we except 8 to 14 inches and northern Virginia 20"
