  • Winter storm Grumpy moves out...

    Hi everyone!

I’ve decided to name this last winter storm, and perhaps I will have my own little storm name list that we can have fun with for the rest of the season.

For now, this latest system pushing across New England is now called Winter storm Grumpy! (Which is finally moving out of the area after dumping several inches of snow, and making for a messy commute)  Bye, bye Grumpy!

This last round of wintry weather has put a lot of big cities into their top five snowiest seasons:

We’ve got more rain and mountain snow for the Northwest and Rockies this week:

Some areas could see close to half a foot of rain with up to 4 feet (!) of snow for the Cascades.  The avalanche danger will remain high over the next few weeks, especially with new snowpack and fluctuating temperatures.

There’s a  quick warm up in store for much of the country, but forecast models are showing another cold plunge next week for the eastern half of the country.

We’re also going to see the chance of severe weather on Thursday for the Mississippi Valley including the risk of tornadoes.

That threat will move into the Southeast on Friday.

I don’t know about you guys, but I feel like hibernating until Spring!

    Talk to you later!

Good morning to all my blogging friends. Thankfully things have been quieter on the blog the past day. Maybe the grumps moved out with the winter storm Grumpy! We had a high of 56 yesterday. It was really nice out but it was very windy along with that. A lot more snow melted yesterday but since we had over a foot last week, there's still more to melt. Now we're supposed to get rain the next couple days. Hopefully we won't get flooding with that. Take care, everyone! Margie

Hey Janice, the departing storm isn't the only thing that's grumpy. I guess the winter weather makes people whiny and grumpy. We have a warm 50 degrees but the wind is blowing like crazy & it doesn't feel that warm. We had a high wind gust of 48 mph. Things are blowing all over the place! Hey to all the regular bloggers out there. Hopefully we'll have a kinder, gentler thread this time around. Take care, all. Margie
