  • Flooding and severe storms for the Gulf...

Happy weekend everyone!  It really is starting to look and feel like spring (finally) across the country.

And, I’m grateful to say that for the most part, weather is pretty quiet this weekend, however there are a few areas we need to watch closely:

We’ve got heavy rain and the potential for severe weather across the South and Southeast on Sunday.   Widespread rainfall of 2-4″ will bring localized flooding.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are also a threat.

The storms continue Monday across the Southeast Gulf Coast and into the Carolinas.

Meanwhile, another system moving into the Northwest  will keep rain and snow in the forecast this weekend:

Calmer weather is in store for the new workweek in this region.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!  I am on my ways outside to get some sunshine…

Hey Gwen, I've been thinking about you with all that nasty weather down your way. Glad you're ok. Be careful when you're out and about because I'm sure there's a lot of flooding around with that much rain. It's cold & rainy here today but nothing like you've been getting. Take care. Margie

Morning all! Spent an uneasy night with heavy rains, t-storms and tornado watches. We've gotten over 5 inches of rain since Friday. No chance of flooding on our hill, but low-lying areas are subject to it. Lake Okatibbee is a flood-control lake, so it's very full at the moment. Campgrounds are closed, so we may head over to the Tombigbee River. Hope all are doing well. I don't get to check in when wifi service there. Y'all take care! Gwen :)

Hey Dan, I found out after my surgery last yr, that it takes a lot longer to heal when you get older. I don't know how that could be either! Stacy & I had a great time together. She really needed that girl time. She's a server at the Ruby Tuesday that I went to with my parents for several yrs. We got to know her through that & I've grown very close to her over the past yr & a half. I've been able to help her out on occasion. She's a good friend. Hey to everyone else. Have a great week, all! Margie

Sonoma Dan

A gorgeous day in beautiful Sonoma County, but no hope for rain. Thanks for your offer, Sam! JD, can you please cooperate with the forecast for Northern California?!? Margie, hope that you and Stacy had a great "girl's day/night out yesterday. Definitely well deserved after the winter you've had and OMG, Stacy is a single mother of four sons?!? YIKES! This "healing" thing after my surgery is going much more slowly than 30+ years ago - the last time that I had major surgery. How could this be?

Hey Sam. I've been checking in but I was waiting to see if anyone else posted before I wrote anything. It has been kind of slow lately. That situation in Washington is so sad. Hopefully they won't get more flooding to add to their misery. Spring refuses to stick around here in Maryland. It only got up to about 50 & was windy yesterday & it got down to the upper 20s overnight--brrrr! I want some warm weather! Tomorrow's high is only in the 40s. Yuck! Take care, everyone! Margie

Hi all, kind of slow on the blog. We had light rain all day and it looks like it will stick around a while. It has warmed up and there is some concern that the snow pack up in the hills above the big slide will melt off quickly and cause the river to rise to flood stage. Dan let's hope some of this rain gets down south. Not much to report on. Take care, be safe.......Sam
