  • Weather will help firefighters in Southern California

Hi everyone.  I hope you’re having a great weekend.  We had some pretty big gully-washers hit the Northeast yesterday and last night, but things have cleared out beautifully, and we’re expecting some amazing weather over the next few days.  There’s some much needed good news in southern California  as temperatures  will be dramatically cooler and closer to average today and tomorrow.

Increasing humidity levels near the coast will also help decrease the threat for new wildfires and help firefighters with the current fires.

However, fire weather watches remain in effect today for the interior Southwest, across Arizona and New Mexico and hot temperatures and low humidity keep the fire danger elevated.

A generally weak system moving across the Northern Plains Sunday and Monday will bring a few thunderstorms to the region, but most storms will remain below severe limits.

Early next week we’ll see temperatures across the Plains on the rise, and this warmth will spread into the Midwest and toward the Ohio Valley by midweek.

Summer is almost here…I can’t believe Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner!

If your up early, I’m filling in for Rick on Fox and Friends, so drop by and say Hi!

Hi guys! 88 degrees and climbing today in MySouth. Should be into the 90s by end of week and probably mid 90s next week. Ugh! I don't like Summer that much. AJ, was so glad to hear that all is safe. Those wildfires were certainly scary. Those firefighters are heroes in my book. Our garden only has tomatoes & peppers so far this year. Usually, hubby plants a huge garden and tells us that we need to learn how to survive off the land again. He may be onto something there! Gwen :)

The weather gave me a day off from working outside but the sun came back out this morning. A couple of times yesterday the rain just came straight down in sheets. You guys all have a good week, I'll check in later on. Be safe, Sam

Hey Everyone! It was a chilly 40 degrees when I got up this morning--brrr! It's hard to believe Memorial Day is only a week away. I wish the weather would make up its mind. Hey Sam, I wish I had room for a garden on my property. I live in town and have a small backyard. Hey Dan, I think the reason why you couldn't post comments on the other thread is that it expired. I think you can only post comments for 3 days on each thread & after that, it won't post anything. Have a great week, all! Margie

Thanks Dan and Sam and Gwen and Margie and Don and Margie and PJ and Marie for your emails and calls and concern during this frightening week...Safe and sound again..beginning to think fires are scarier then earthquakes..was so weird hearing Shep say San Marcos, Ca and show our town, all our local news folks did a A+ job and no words can express what a great job our hero fire fighters did. Fires and evacuations were on the other side of the street, burned out where we walk.

Hi Everybody! AJ, I was so glad to read on the previous blog that your home was spared in the San Diego fires. I don't know what happened, but I was unable to post comments this past Thursday or Friday. Probably "user error"... I'm truly shocked by some of the comments I've read on other blogs regarding the SoCal fires. People can be so hateful. Sam, WOW - your garden sounds incredible and it must be huge! Wishing you a bountiful harvest this summer! Hope that everyone is doing well! Dan

Hi all, in between planting the garden and loafing I'll drop in for a couple. So far I've got 2 rows of spuds in, cauliflower, belle peppers, half my onions a couple tomatoes, 2 zuchinni and a couple spaghetti squash. Yet to go, more belle peppers, Walla Walla onions, Brussels sprouts, acorn squash, a tomato and more zuchinni. If any room is left, I may add some carrots and turnips. I hope you guys in CA survived the fires this week. I worked two seasons on a fire crew when in HS. Sam
